POSTS STORIES REELS

The plan from the beginning of the Maverick project was always to run the exhaust and wastegate out of the existing fender vent area. After modeling a few different versions of a top, we settled on this one. The area has a ton going on with different surface curves and angles so we’re really happy with the end result.

The tip is 3D printed 316 Stainless by @soulperformanceproducts and has V bands welded to the backside to connect to the rest of the exhaust and wastegate dump.

Thank you @grant.designs and @soulperformanceproducts for knocking this out in record time. They came out so awesome.

Now hopefully we don’t completely melt the mirrors off.

Come check the truck out in the Addco booth in Central Hall booth #23135 this week at Sema.

The worlds first Coyote swapped Maverick is alive! Running on a @haltech Nexus R3 with a @radiumengineering fuel system and @vmpperformance rails. Some of you noticed how we planned to run the exhaust out of the fender. We have a new fender vent and 3d printed stainless tip that will be going in.

We’re excited to be working with our friends @mishimoto on the Maverick project. We have been using their parts on a variety of race cars and street cars for over 10 years.

While they make a ton of direct replacement coolers and radiators for specific vehicles, they also have a huge lineup of universal parts that work so well for projects like this where we are modifying so much.

We’re also getting to test out their new Maverick radiator before it’s getting released to the public!

Here’s the power plant for the Coyote swapped Maverick. Our Gen 2 Coyote has been outfitted with some GT500 valve covers and painted with @steelitcoatings. The handmade log headers are coated in a high temp white @cerakoteceramiccoatings. The wiring harness for the @haltech Nexus R3 has been meticulously routed, terminated and loomed by @nick_z123. Behind the engine is an adapter by @lojconversions to bolt up the 8HP70 that is filled with @guruautowerks goodies.

And watch until the end if you’re wondering how much needs to be cut out to fit a Coyote in a Maverick.

We got the @hellionturbo turbos are mocked up with temporary mounts along with the @vmpperformance intercooler and Leviathan intake manifold. This will allow us to run the turbos straight to the intake manifold and eliminate the need to run complex air to air intercooler piping.

The stock Maverick rear end wasn’t going to cut it with 4x the amount of power so we shoehorned in an s550 differential. Our plan now is to maintain factory Maverick knuckles and hubs and have a custom set of axles made to adapt to the Mustang diff.

I used to think design was just making something look good. It’s not. It’s making sure it works for a real human. Save this if you care about how things feel, not just how they look.

Industrial design is really the whole life cycle of a product - sketches, materials, ergonomics, and what happens when it’s done being used. That’s the part people miss. The best designs aren’t just beautiful.

They’re comfortable, useful, and make sense the second you use them. That’s especially true in cars - if you can’t reach it, understand it, or trust it, the design failed. What’s one product you use every day that actually gets this right?

What happens when old-school hot rod craftsmanship meets modern design, technology, and nearly three decades of family tradition?

On the latest episode of 𝗚𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗻’ 𝗚𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲, 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗹𝘁 and co-host 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗻𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝗛 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 @jh_restorations sit down with 𝗗𝗼𝗺 𝗧𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗶 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗶 𝗛𝗼𝘁 𝗥𝗼𝗱𝘀 @tuccihotrods.

Dom grew up in the shop his dad, Dave, started in 1997 and later brought his Industrial Design background from Syracuse University back into the family business. Today, that combination influences everything from CAD and 3D modeling to fabrication, product development, and some seriously memorable SEMA builds.

We get into the stories behind Tucci Hot Rods, working with Ford, the wild Raptor-powered Mercedes 190E, the Blue Maverick, Power Tour, Top Gear, Larry Chen, and what it really takes to build long-term relationships with manufacturers and suppliers.

There are plenty of business lessons in this one too, including why:
• Timeless design beats chasing trends
• Great builds can become great marketing
• Industry relationships are earned over time
• Product development can help a custom shop grow
• Hands-on learning still matters

Dom also shares some great advice for the next generation looking to build a career in the automotive aftermarket.

The 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline-four turbo has left the building. Tucci Hot Rods said so itself on social media, and what replaced it feels wonderfully overkill. Despite being Ford's entry-level pickup, this particular Maverick has received a 5.0-liter Coyote naturally aspirated V8. Not long now, it will be flanked by a pair of Hellion-supplied turbochargers. Its maximum output should clear 800 hp. Scheduled to debut this November at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the Tucci Hot Rods V8-engined Maverick also had its automatic tranny bolted successfully behind the engine.

Perfect isn’t always the goal. Sometimes, the imperfections are the proof that someone actually made it.

In this clip, Dom Tucci from @tuccihotrods shares a lesson that stuck with him all the way back from shop class in college: when something is handmade, it’s okay for it to have character. Those small imperfections are part of the story.

It’s a mindset that carries straight into custom cars, fabrication, restoration, and craftsmanship of every kind.

Because handmade shouldn’t always look machine-made.

We made some really good power in the Galaxie on E85. This absolutely rips on the street. We could have made more but we ran out of fuel pump.

We have our Coyote and 8HP70 transmission fully mounted in the Maverick. This swap is definitely not for the faint of heart as a good chunk of the tunnel and part of the firewall had to be cut out to put the motor in the proper spot. All stuff we figured we would have to do to get this to work.
