Yesterday, we welcomed the Trucking Delivers for Iowa Tour to Tucker Freight Lines!

It was a great opportunity to share a little more about what goes on across our departments and introduce visitors to some of the people who keep things moving every day.

Thank you to the @iowamotortruck for including Tucker in this year's tour, and to our team members who took the time to be part of it!

Tomorrow, we're welcoming the community to Tucker Freight Lines in Dubuque as part of the Trucking Delivers for Iowa Tour!

From the people behind the wheel to the teams working behind the scenes, it takes a lot of different roles to keep freight moving. This is a chance to meet some of those people and learn more about an industry that's part of our everyday lives.

We'll be here from 11 AM to 2 PM, and the event is open to everyone!

Fall brings changing conditions to the road, sometimes within the same trip.

Shorter days mean more time driving in the dark, while low sun at sunrise and sunset can make traffic lights, vehicles, and pedestrians harder to see. Morning fog and frost on bridges can create additional challenges as temperatures continue to drop.

Checking lights, keeping windshields and mirrors clean, adjusting speed for conditions, and allowing extra following distance can help when visibility and road conditions change.

We had a lot to celebrate at last night's IMTA Awards Gala!

A huge congratulations to Tim Mason, who was named the 2026 IMTA Maintenance Technician of the Year!

Tim is known in our shop for his mechanical skill, especially when it comes to troubleshooting electrical issues. He's thorough, efficient and doesn't cut corners, even when the pressure is on. When someone else is stuck on a problem, Tim is also quick to share what he knows and help figure it out.

For Tim, the most important part of his job has always been the safety of our drivers, the public and his coworkers. We're incredibly proud to see the skill and pride he brings to his work recognized by the Iowa Motor Truck Association.

We also want to congratulate Charlie Tucker on completing the IMTA Leadership Class and recognize our other award nominees:

Austin Kalfus | Outstanding Professional Truck Driver
Bob Schmitt | Professional Dispatcher
Chris Dun | Safety Advocate

Congratulations to Tim, Charlie and all of our nominees!

For Mike B., some of the best parts of life on the road are the freedom, a good load and his copilot riding beside him.

Mike has been driving for 23 years, following a path that started with his dad, who was also a truck driver. He's been with Tucker since 2024, and these days, that career looks a little different with Axel always riding beside him. Mike says having Axel as his copilot has been life changing. He gets him out of the truck, keeps him more active and gives him someone to care for on the road. If you've met Axel, you already know he has a way of making friends wherever they go.

Something else that's important to Mike is drivers helping other drivers. Over 23 years, he's learned a lot from the people around him, and we've seen him do the same for other driver's time and time again.

Mike has taken his drone to shippers and receivers to capture aerial footage so other drivers can see where they're going and what to expect before they get there. He's also helped create videos demonstrating proper load securement. He doesn't have to do any of it. He does it because if he can make another driver's job a little easier, he wants to.

That interest in drone work has since grown into his own business, Browns Flight Production LLC, but his willingness to use those skills to help the people around him is something we've been fortunate to experience firsthand.

Mike, thank you for being someone who's always willing to help and for finding your own ways to make the job a little easier for the drivers around you. We're proud to have you and Axel on our team, and we appreciate you!

Before Rick R. made a career out of driving a truck, he was a kid growing up around one.

His dad was a truck driver, and Rick remembers being around his truck from the time he was old enough to walk. Eventually, he found his own way into the driver's seat and began a career that's now closing in on 50 years. By 1986, that path had brought him here, where a big part of his career has unfolded.

And after all those years, Rick still loves to drive. He's logged more than 2 million miles along the way and says one of the biggest things experience has given him is an understanding of defensive driving. After enough time on the road, you start to recognize when someone around you might make a move before they make it. You learn to anticipate it and adjust.

That experience has shaped the way Rick approaches the job, but what he's tried to bring to it has remained pretty consistent: “I've just always tried to do the best I could, be safe and be proud of what I do.”

From growing up around his dad's truck to the career he's built behind the wheel, Rick has spent much of his life doing something he still takes pride in today. We're grateful that so much of that time has been shared with us.

Rick, thank you for the years, experience and pride you've brought to this work. We're proud to have you on our team, and we appreciate you!

When Jimmy F. looks back on 17 years behind the wheel, he knows he's not the same driver he was when he started.

Earlier in his career, Jimmy mentioned trying to go, go, go. Get the miles in. Keep moving. He remembers rushing himself and, sometimes, making mistakes because of it.

Experience taught him something different.

Take your time. Leave plenty of room. Expect the unexpected. As Jimmy puts it, “Steady and safe.”

That approach has been built over 17 years of driving and more than 2 million accident-free miles.

For the last 2.5 years, Jimmy has brought that experience to Tucker. He also represented Tucker at the Iowa Truck Driving Championships as part of the team that brought home second place.

But some of what Jimmy values most about driving has nothing to do with miles or awards. He said there is a sense of brotherhood among drivers and the connection that comes from understanding what the job is really like.

“We're all in this together."

That's something we get to celebrate this week too. Not just what our drivers accomplish, but the experience, perspective and character they bring to Tucker.

Jimmy, thank you for everything you do. We're proud to have you on our team and we appreciate you!

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is an opportunity to recognize the professional drivers across our industry, especially those we're fortunate to have here at Tucker.

We know this job asks a lot. It means long days, time away from home, changing conditions and a responsibility to get the job done safely while taking care of our customers along the way.

To every Tucker driver, thank you for the time, hard work and professionalism you bring to the job. We're proud to have you on our team and looking forward to celebrating you throughout the week! by @tuckerfreightlines
