The numbers have grown a lot recently, so I wanted to pop in for a little intro! I’m Courtney, but I answer to Tucky too. (My last name is Tucker) I’m a full time entrepreneur as of April 2021. I do a lot, but mainly specialize in the digital world. Social media management, website design, graphic design, content creation, etc.

I saw a lack of Black representation in my hometown, Cincy, so I started creating content around Black experiences, Black venues, & places where Black people can feel welcome along with my general lifestyle. It’s all about the vibes tbh (hence my Vibestyle). And while Cincy is home & I’m ride or die, I love showcasing the vibes in other places I travel. Travel is a passion of mine.

You can find me kicking it with friends, working from my fave coffee shops, walking my pup, orrrr you may not find me at all😅

I think I’m finally far enough removed from Cousins Camp to say… whew.😭

The pretty pictures are one thing. The process was something completely different. Late nights, stress, money, a million emails, follow-ups to follow-ups, changing budgets, things falling through, things costing more than expected and random problems I didn’t know existed until I had to solve them😅

And because it was Year 1, there was no blueprint. No previous numbers, recap or proof people would actually show up. I was asking brands, partners, talent, vendors (and sometimes myself lol) to believe in something that didn’t exist yet.

There were definitely moments where I thought… am I doing too much? Spending too much? Nobody asked me to do this. I could literally just… not😂

But then I walked into that gym. The shirts weren’t mockups anymore, the sponsors I’d spent months emailing were part of the experience, Jamad was on the court teaching and people had TRAVELED to be there! People were hooping, laughing, connecting and having a good time.

I was like, dang. We really made this.🥹 And I definitely didn’t do it alone. Shoutout to my friends who got drafted into the Cousins Camp group project whether they applied or not😂 My mom, who let her house become Cousins Camp Storage & Fulfillment Center™ for weeks😭 And my girl @lonisegovi because building something like this takes somebody else crazy enough to say, “Yeah, let’s do it.”😂

Was everything perfect? Nope. Did I spend more than planned? Absolutely. Is my Notes app already full of changes for next year? Of course😂 But I’d do it again.

Entrepreneurship keeps teaching me things about myself, and this one was big: I really love taking something from “I have an idea…” to “holy crap, this is real.”
The strategy, creative, partnerships, problem solving, making all the pieces make sense together. I’ve spent years doing pieces of that for other people and their brands. Cousins Camp reminded me how much I love being trusted with the whole vision.

So what’s next? More Cousins Camp, absolutely. But also more rooms where someone says, “Here’s the idea. Can you figure out how to bring it to life?”

WNBA All-Star Weekend brought the cousins OUT, and the vibes at Cousins Camp was everything we hoped it would be and more.

Consider this our official petition to run it back! Same time next year?!😅🙂‍↕️
