🎶 Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and beyond! 🇲🇽✨

We’re kicking off the celebration today with our Mexican Independence Day concert in partnership with the Consulate of Mexico in Tucson, including a spectacular classical masterpiece, followed by Fiesta Latina!

And the celebration continues beyond October 15, with Up Close chamber series (Oct 17 & 18) celebrating music of Argentina & Uruguay, then Latin Sizzle (Oct 23 & 25) before concluding on Sunday, November 1 for a special Día de los Muertos celebration of life concert, featuring Edna Vazquez, honoring the tradition and vibrant music that brings our community together.

A Rich and Passionate Up-Close Celebration this weekend! 🎉

Get ready for a lively afternoon of chamber music as the TSO Up Close series presents Fandangos & Malambos. 💃🏻

This Saturday and Sunday at the Tucson Symphony Center, we are celebrating the rhythms of Argentina and Uruguay.

Guitar virtuoso Misael Barraza-Díaz will take center stage for Luigi Boccherini’s famous Quintet in D Major for Guitar and Strings, a masterpiece celebrated for its spirited fandango movement complete with castanets and rhythmic flair - a nod to the Italian influence in Argentina.

🌼💀 Our Ofrenda is here at the TSO Symphony Center 💐

The traditional Mexican altar was created for Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) to honor and remember loved ones who have passed. We have placed ours at the entrance of our box office to remember our past music directors and musicians we have lost over the years to help honor their contribution and artistry they shared with us and a way to help keep their spirit alive.

✨ As we celebrate Fiesta Latina and Día de los Muertos, feel free to stop by and check it out. Then, join us for the culmination of our month long celebration downtown at the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall on November 1st, featuring the beautiful voice of Edna Vázquez, and the incredible Mariachi Aztlán de Pueblo High School! ❤️🌺

Former TSO concertmaster, Jesús Linárez returns to perform a special curated concert celebrating the music of Argentina and Uruguay for this weekend’s Up Close chamber performance.

For Linárez, Alberto Ginastera’s 🇦🇷 String Quartet No. 1 holds a special place. Having spent years rehearsing and performing the piece with his own quartet, returning to it for Malambos & Fandangos is a meaningful opportunity to share music he truly loves.

“Once I knew this concert was going to be part of Fiesta Latina, I thought - we have to include this piece! I think how Ginastera mixes the traditional rhythms of Argentina with the classic style of composition; then mixing those with modern harmonies is so clever!” Linárez says. “I hope the audience enjoys it as much as I do.”

🏔️ Brahms’ Symphony No. 4🎶

Often regarded as Brahms’ greatest masterpiece, his Symphony No. 4 was composed during the summers of 1884–85 in the quiet Austrian town of Mürzzuschlag, nestled in the Alps. A work of profound depth and emotional intensity, it stands as one of the darkest and most powerful symphonies in the repertoire. ✨🎻

🥁 Our Tucson Youth Percussion Ensemble (TYPE) is off to a fantastic start in its inaugural year! 🎉

✨What an unforgettable opening to our Masterworks Series! 🎶

From the incredible talent of featured artist Rafael Aguirre to the music of Marianna Martines, Joseph Haydn, and Giovanni Bottesini, it was a day filled with extraordinary music and memorable moments.
