State #26 UTAH!
Oh she was a beast….13.1 miles at 5k feet higher than what I’m used to running, with no service for the first 6 miles/hour =no tunes/my very good book and once out of the canyon it was hoooooot. But! we can do hard things!!
.
After the race the hotel shuttle wasn’t showing up and an angel, Jill (the winner of the 70+ group) gave me a ride! Also shout out to the angel that ran walked with me for the last 3 uphill miles. taken in Logan, Utah by @tudortime

Our last night camping didn’t disappoint:
We got up early hit the Lamar Valley, saw so many bison, antelope and a wolf pack (super far away).
Checked out the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.
Jack was sworn in again as jr ranger
And we hit our last campground (Grant)…where this beauty was waiting for me as I walked back from brushing my teeth.
…one more adventure.

Geysers and Geothermic Activity..oh my!

The colors are other worldly and the landscape seems alien (which is why they test it to see if life can exist in other seemingly inhospitable planets).

We went to a ranger talk and had lunch in a quiet corner. Two more nights in Thor. This has been an epic camping trip. taken in Yellow Stone National Park by @tudortime

Our last morning in Tetons…
We took the ferry across Jenny lake and took a hike to waterfalls and inspiration point (find Jack in the rocks). Someone told me I had a little mountain goat and boy do I! He wanted to go up and over every rock formation…including this rock slide. taken in Inspiration Point by @tudortime

I cried it’s so beautiful.

We hiked around colter bay, went to Mormon row, schwabacher landing and spent time with snores and a ranger talk at the campsite. taken in Grand Teton National Park by @tudortime

State #25 Wyoming
.
This was easily one of my favorite races. It was very uphill but then very downhill through a canyon. Jack even ran with me the last 100 yards. Beautiful 50’degrees. everything about this race was 10/10.

Haches go West!
.
-We started at the Bonneville Salt Flats (where Will Smith punched an alien and said welcome to Earth and then a lot of Camper vans drove up to him. History).
-12 miles x 5 miles of salt…flats. Where land speed record are pushed (well above the speed of sound), it can be 5 feet thick.
.
Then we drove to Wyoming. Green River to run the first of two races #25 and #26 with some national parks in between.
.
Back to camper van life. This girl’s name is Thor.

In prep for a trip out west, we have been talking about….
.
animals, danger, what to do if we see one, how we’re in their house in nature, endangered species, fun facts and videos.
It felt appropriate to go to the museum to say hello to them there.
.
We came to this harrowing picture and we had a chat about Native Americans and their relationship vs Europeans and their relationship with bison.
.
Me: so which do you think is better: using all the parts of the bison and being grateful for food and clothing and tools or hunting them for sport and fun?
Jack: I’d like a third option.
Me: umm..well….
Jack: I think it’s better not to kill them at all.
