Canebrake 200 After Action Report:

This was an amazing race with amazing people. My goals going into the race were to get back into the ultrarunning mindset and push myself out of my comfort zone once again. Safe to say I successfully did that. Along the way I also managed to secure a 1st place finish and a 200 mile PR with 24,000 feet of elevation gain. My finish time was 60:38:09. On alternating 5 and 10 mile loops up and down the terrain of Sweetwater Creek State Park, I got back in touch with the feeling of pushing through pain, fatigue, and nausea. I reminded myself that I can do more than my mind thinks I can. I want to extend a huge thank you to my parents and grandparents, @sborentx, @dianeboren318, @phillipcooley1, and @cooley112 for coming out to the race and crewing me! Thank you to @samanthastaylor and @yetitrailrunners for organizing this race and being so supportive throughout. Thank you to @galacticnachos, @geezertn, @jdfrazier13, and all the aid station volunteers for keeping me going throughout the race. And thank you to all the other runners out there pushing their limits, encouraging me on the trails, and sharing miles. Events like these remind me why I do hard things. The people in the community are truly a different caliber. Overall, Canebrake was an awesome race to kick off this next season of ultras, and I am eager to see how the year unfolds! by @tugboren

First week back to training in the books! Starting everything off slow, as I’m focusing on an intentional rebuilding of my base and tendon/joint rehabilitation. Logged 10.5 miles of running this week, some cross training on the bike, and lots of strength/mobility/stretch sessions (plus some fun snow and ice shenanigans). by @tugboren

Loop training! I was planning on doing a lot more, but the 20-30 mph wind gusts got in my head mentally. Still a solid training block! by @tugboren

October 21, 2023, two years ago today, I ran my first ultramarathon. It’s been a nonstop journey since then, filled with races and long training hours on trails and roads. This sport has taught me lesson after lesson, both about running and life. I have been challenged in ways I never thought possible. This community has welcomed me in, supported me, and propelled me forward. These past two years have been the most formative of my life, and I am eager to continue developing both as a person and as a runner. The two year mark is just the beginning. It’s time to pour in. 🫡 by @tugboren

3 years. Same race. Palo Duro Trail Run @palodurotrailrun was my first ultramarathon, and now both my mom and dad have joined the club! Picture 1: My mom @dianeboren318 finishing her first 50K this year. Picture 2: My dad @sborentx and I after finishing the 50K and 50 mile last year. Picture 3: Me finishing my first 50 mile race two years ago. Proud of my family! by @tugboren

Colorado Springs Half Marathon:

First race with the USAFA marathon team! Felt great throughout. There was a slight net uphill for the first half, but I picked up the pace after turning around and notched some PRs. Definitely a different dynamic than trail runs. Fun times! by @tugboren
