5 things I know at 45…(🤏🏼almost 46) that I wish I’d understood sooner.

🔥1. Money is not the point.
But not having enough of it can control your entire fucking life.

I don’t need to be rich.
I want choices.
I want to be able to say no to shit that drains me.

I want to buy the groceries without doing mental gymnastics at the checkout.

I want to help my kids when they need me.

I want money to give me options, not become the thing that dictates every decision I make.

🔥2. Being judged is cheaper than staying stuck.

Someone will always have an opinion.

Too ambitious.
Too much.
Too loud.
Too old.
Too weird.
Not realistic.

I’ve finally realised I can either spend my life managing other people’s opinions…

or actually live it.

I’ll take option two.

🔥3. Time is worth more than money once you realise you can’t fucking buy it back.

I’ll happily work hard.

I just don’t want to spend my whole life selling hours.

Because nobody gets to buy yesterday back.

And I’ve reached the age where I care a hell of a lot more about what my time is buying me than what my hourly rate says.

🔥4. Starting again at 45 isn’t embarrassing.

You know what’s actually embarrassing?

Staying somewhere you hate because you’re worried about what someone else will think when you leave.

I’ve started businesses.

I’ve changed direction.

I’ve fucked things up.

I’ve started again.

And I’ll probably do it again.

That’s not failure.

That’s life.

🔥5. You don’t need more time. You need to stop giving so much of yours away.

To people-pleasing.
To proving yourself.
To things that don’t matter.
To waiting until you’re ready.
To scrolling.

To worrying about what everyone else is doing.

At 45, I’m getting a little ruthless with my time.

Because I finally understand:

my time IS my life.

And I’m not handing it over quite so easily anymore. by @tunjacottier

Choose! 🤪

Choose one niche
Choose one offer
Choose one platform
Choose one strategy
Choose one income stream

Meanwhile your brain —> “OR…here me out”

Call it what you want but I’m just calling it needing a freaking break!

Burnout? Probably.
ADHD Spiral? That too!
Hormonal fire storm? Absolutely…

Life got really lifey and I needed to pull back.
My brain was firing in 12 different directions 24/7. It was a lot!

I questioned myself, what I was doing, how I was building….EVERYTHING!

I considered just quitting and going back to “normal life”….

But then 3 things happened…

🔥 a commission landed from work I did 4 years ago…a really well timed and juicy one!
🔥 someone I was in conversation with LAST November decided she was ready to get started!
💁🏻‍♀️ I remembered who the fuck I am and the whole damn point of creating this life and how unequipped I actually am for “normal” life!

So I guess you could say “I’m back” but that sounds cringe 🤣

I guess you could say I’ve regrouped, rested, remembered why I kept showing up in the first place and the longterm vision I have!

I remembered the 100’s of women who depend on me to lead by example and keep showing up, learning and teaching.

The last 3 months of this year for me will be solid growth and anyone who’s ready to make change happen in life and build something for themself is welcome to step up beside me x by @tunjacottier

Call it ADHD burnout.
A perimenopause spiral.
A spiritual tailspin.
Or maybe I just bloody needed a break. 😂

Whatever it was… I’ve spent the last month doing almost nothing in my online business.

No consistent posting.
No emails.
No launches.
No hustling.
Bare minimum leadership.
And honestly, some days, even that felt like too much.

And yet…

My business still grew.

I still got paid.
New people still joined me.
Commissions still came in from work I did four years ago.

And THAT is the actual goal.

Not building a business that requires me to show up every damn day or everything falls apart.

Not creating another job for myself dressed up as entrepreneurship.

I wanted to build something that could keep moving when I couldn’t.

Because I genuinely never know which version of myself is going to greet me when I wake up.

Some days I’m a spicy little mess.
Some days I’m a powerhouse businesswoman.
Some days I’m an emotional tornado with a coffee in one hand and absolutely no idea what the plan is. 😂

Welcome to being a woman in her mid-40s, I guess. What a fucking ride. 🤣

But here’s what I’ve realised…

I don’t need to be consistent to be successful.

I need to build systems, relationships and income streams that don’t punish me for being human.

I need a business that gives me room to live my actual life.

To rest.
To disappear for a while.
To have a shit day.
To change direction.
To come back when I’m ready.

And most importantly…

I need to stop measuring my success by how much I am doing.

Because sometimes the biggest proof that you’ve built something real…

…is what happens when you stop pushing it.

And this past month?

My business quietly reminded me that I’ve built something that works.

Even when I don’t. ❤️‍🔥 taken in Agnes Water & Town Of 1770 by @tunjacottier

Happy Friday! ☕️✂️

Cutting stuff. Caffeinating. Planning. Scheming. Creating.

And apparently calming my brain while I do it all.

Yes, I can do both at the same time.

Calm chaos. 😂

For the longest time, I felt guilty doing things like this.

Something just for the pure joy of it.

It’s not work.
It’s not productive.
It’s not a mum job.
It’s not necessary.

So obviously… it must be a waste of time. 🙄

But this season of life?

I’m calling it:

“Fuck that. It’s my turn.” 💁🏻‍♀️

Because I didn’t build an online business so I could create another job for myself.

I built it because I wanted options.

Options with my time.
Options with where I work.
Options with what I create.
And, perhaps most importantly, the option to sit at my desk on a Friday morning cutting up old books while my brain wanders off down 17 different creative rabbit holes. 😂

I’ve worked bloody hard to build a life that gives me more time.

I’m just learning that having the time and actually allowing myself to BE with it are two very different things.

And that’s one of the reasons @unboundpapertrails has become so special to me.

It’s a side-hustle to my side-hustle that gives me permission to slow down.

To find beauty in the old, the discarded and the forgotten.

To make something simply because I think it’s beautiful.

And then turn that little pocket of joy into something that brings joy to someone else.

And the funny thing is…

I’m still me. 😂

Between cuts, I’m coaching clients.

Between sips, I’m answering calls.

Between little idea bubbles, I’m creating.

The business doesn’t stop because I decided to play for a few hours…or days 😂.

And THAT is the bit I was chasing.

Not a life where I never work.

A life where work actually fits around being alive.

A little business.
A little creativity.
A little chaos.
A lot more choice.

The perfect storm. 🌪️☕️✂️ by @tunjacottier

Reason 748 why I won’t ever stop the work I do!

The amount of women I speak to each week who are at this stage of life and searching for options really does frighten me!

Women who have already “retired” but don’t have enough to survive.

Women who are close to official retirement age but know they won’t survive on a government pension.

Women who know their super is just not going to provide what they need.

Women who chose to be the care giver of their families and then found themselves unprovided for later in life.

And honestly, this is a fear of mine too.

It’s one of my biggest drivers!

To make SURE that my retirement is not spent working, stressed and going without.

It’s why I strive to create reoccurring income, passive income and multiple streams of it!

My inbox is always open if this is a fear you have too and you’d like to chat options and opportunities to start building your own safety net and retirement fund.

I’ve never had a particularly straight-line journey.

I’ve built businesses, changed direction, chased ideas, started again and learned a LOT along the way.

And I’ve finally realised…

My ability to pivot isn’t the problem. It’s part of my superpower.

I don’t want to help women build a business that takes over their life.

I want to help them build something that gives them more life.

More options.
More flexibility.
More confidence.
More room to be exactly who they are.

So if you’re a multi-passionate woman wondering whether there’s another way to build income without putting the rest of your life on hold…

Come along for the ride. 🖤

Tapped out for a sec….

But for a really good reason!

I’ve been working online for 5 years now and in that time, the number one reason I’ve seen so many people NOT start online is fear.

Specifically, the fear of being seen.
Seen by friends.
Seen by family.
Being judged.

And I get it! I carried that fear for a long time too.

So I’ve spent the last few weeks a little quieter here, publicly, so I like focus on building specifically for those people.

It’s been a lot! And admittedly, I actually felt like just throwing it all away last night. My brain rebelled a little 😂

But the bigger mission held in, and this morning a DM from an amazing woman reminded me why I’m here, why I keep pushing.

Is for you.
For the ones who carry fear. Capable, incredible women who simply want to try but in private.

So if you’re quietly watching, thinking you want to try something…reach out, it’s not just one path, I can show you a few I think are worth the time.

Last night I was ready to burn my entire business to the ground. 😂🔥

After weeks of building, creating, testing, tweaking and trying to hold 47 ideas in my head at once…

I was DONE.

Then I realised…

I don’t want to quit.

I just needed to stop for a minute.

Because I’ve been building A LOT behind the scenes.

And there’s a reason.

Over the last five years in the online space, I’ve seen the same thing again and again:

Women WANT to build online.

But they’re scared to be SEEN.

Scared of judgement. Scared of looking silly. Scared of failing publicly. Scared of their friends watching them try.

And I get it.

We’ve somehow decided that building online means showing your face constantly, becoming an influencer and selling yourself every day.

It doesn’t.

That’s what I’ve been building around.

More ways for women to leverage the online space without having to become someone they’re not.

Digital products. Affiliate marketing. Investing. Crypto. Automation. Faceless brands.

Maybe you eventually want to build a personal brand.

Maybe you never want to show your face.

Both are okay.

I’m not here to throw another “BUY THIS” at you.

I want to start conversations.

Show women what’s possible.

Give them options.

Because you don’t need to become an influencer to learn how to make the internet work for you.

So yes… I’ve been quiet.

I’ve been building.

And apparently building so much that my brain staged a full-scale business rebellion last night. 😂

But I’ve remembered WHY I’m doing it.

And I’m pretty bloody excited about what’s coming.

If you’ve ever thought:

“There HAS to be a way for me to make the internet work for me without putting my entire life online…”

Come chat with me.

No pitch. No pressure.

Just a conversation about what’s possible. ❤️ by @tunjacottier

“You didn’t leave 9–5 life just to build yourself another prison.”

And yet… somehow, that’s exactly what I was doing. 🫣

I worked my arse off to create more freedom.

More time.
More choice.
More space to actually LIVE my life.

And then I got so caught up in building the business, growing the thing, creating the content, chasing the next goal, figuring out the funnel, answering the messages…

That I forgot the whole fucking point.

I had built a business to give me freedom…

…and then started structuring my life around the business.

🤦‍♀️

There’s a funny little lesson in that.

Sometimes we get so focused on building the thing that we forget what the thing was supposed to give us.

So I’m coming back to the original brief:

Build this → so I can have THAT.

Not the other way around.

And for me, “that” looks a lot like creativity.

Slow mornings.
Books.
Paper.
Little adventures.
Making things with my hands.
Following weird little ideas just because they make me ridiculously happy.

Which is exactly why Unbound Paper Trails is coming to life.

Because maybe the next chapter doesn’t need to be bigger.

Maybe it just needs to be more mine.

🖤 follow along if you love books and paper and creativity!
