SPOTKANIA WGW 28.09.2026 | 19:00
“Future Fragments: Fluid Intelligence, or the Photographic Image Today”. A Lecture by Krzysztof Pijarski

@krzyp @future_fragments_project @noviki

The event is part of the WGW Meetings programme and will be hosted at @turnus.gallery , where we are currently presenting “Magiel”, a solo exhibition by @tomek.club

Future Fragments is an initiative bringing together art, technology, and theoretical reflection to explore the nature of intelligence, agency, and creativity.

The lectures, discussions, workshops, presentations, and publications organized as part of Future Fragments are open to everyone interested in our rapidly changing present and emerging future—including researchers, artists, practitioners, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of what is happening at the intersection of technology and culture.

In a fascinating text from 1989, Jeff Wall writes about the “echo of water” in analog photography. From Wall’s perspective, the digitization of photography signified the expansion of its “dry” aspect—an optical, technological intelligence; a calculating lens and eye performing a cool separation of what is depicted. This gesture, counterintuitive from today’s standpoint—given that we have come to regard the digital image as fluid and malleable—allows us to conceptualize the arrival of artificial intelligence systems as the return of liquid intelligence; not only to the photographic image as an artifact, but to the camera apparatus as image infrastructure, complete with its technological and ecological dilemmas.

Warsaw galleries TBA and Turnus invite four friends from Berlin, Basel, Vienna and Tokyo to Warsaw, bringing together artists from the galleries they particularly care about.

“In theory, art is a system that keeps reinventing itself. In practice, the emphasis falls on the “re-“ rather than on any actual inventing. So: we begin again, an infinite number of times. We do more or less the same thing, even if the thing looks different each time. Mostly we are taking on old conventions in new outfits. Those are our default settings. The whole artistic order — thoroughly dusted over by now — is weighed down by a need for constant progress and development. Or plain accumulation. And as the history of this planet shows, permanent growth has never done anyone any good. It didn’t pay off for the giant ferns, and it is far more likely to be the undoing of us.”

We’re very happy to announce that Andreea Anghel is now part of the Turnus programme!! ❤️❤️❤️ We’re really excited to start working together and to share her work with you through all the excited projects to come 🫸🫷

@__cigaroh
Andreea Anghel (b. 1990, Alba Iulia, RO) lives and works in Wrocław, Poland since 2011. Her work mixes ready-mades, found pieces of Midcentury furniture, assemblage as a writing technique, with newly built elements and curiosity cabinets that involve durational and intuitive emotional labour. Rooted in situations and elements that at first glance may seem common, Anghel’s artistic language reverts that easiness and brings forth uncanniness in a sensibility that channels both care and irony.

This week we’re bringing Andreea’s work to Warsaw for @crashclubprojects, opening tomorrow, 19:00–23:00 💥💥 See you there!
