We threw a 150th birthday party for The Daily Princetonian on Friday night at The New York Historical and the celebration could not have been more fitting. From remarks by Robert Caro ‘57 and @princeton President Christopher Eisgruber ‘83 to the outpouring of enthusiasm and giving from 250 alumni, it was a night to remember. Bonus to @dailyprincetonian leaders who pulled together an afterparty—complete with Hoagie Haven sandwiches direct from Princeton. This week CNBC’s Becky Quick launched an initiative, CNBC Cures, to focus on the problem of progress for rare diseases.

For Becky, it’s a very personal story. Her 9-year-old daughter Kaylie has a rare genetic disorder.

Only some 1,700 people have been diagnosed with the condition that Kaylie has, but an estimated 30 million Americans face one or another type of rare disorder.

I’m so proud of my friend for her leadership on this. And I’m in constant admiration of how Becky and her family—perhaps most especially Kaylie herself, who has been growing up with these challenges—have shown so much courage.
