Been chasing sunrise and running Bulldog all year, with one big epic goal in my heart and mind… Rio Del Lago sub 24!!!!
August definitely knocked the wind outta me but always being a horse girl first, when you fall you get right back on.
There are definitely some more mountains to climb literally and figuratively. I will continue to climb, find small joys, chase sunrise and as many rainbows as I can find, dream big, love on Gus and Aravis, be the best mom, and show up to help all my friends chase their goals. We get one life and I am loving it big even when it’s hard. After the thunderstorm comes the rainbow!!! I have so much to say and yet I have no words. Being able to witness @ellaneym shine as she crushed 100 miles I am speechless. Tomorrow, @ellaneym toes the line at the Western States 100 for her 100-mile debut. She brought the talent, she brought the crew, and yes, she brought someone whose job is the glitter.

But do not let the glitter fool you. This girl can flat-out run.

Recently signed with @hoka, Ellaney arrives at Olympic Valley red hot, coming off standout finishes at Canyons 100K, Black Canyon 100K, and Kodiak 50K. The talent is real, the crew is dialed, and the start line is calling.

100.2 miles to Auburn. We could not be prouder to rep the Team Matarese shirts out there.

I have to say I am not sad to say goodbye. This entire year I felt like I was treading water and just when close enough to the shore another huge wave would wash me out to sea.
There has been so much heartbreak that words can’t really describe. A small one that hurts everyday is that the Malibu Feed Bin is gone and gone forever. For me that little red shack at the bottom of the canyon held so many memories. We got our first hens there, Casey (the owner) would let us park in the lot for after school beach dips, for me it was I am almost home. I love the beach and the mountains equally. I love rual way more than the city and coming home turning up the canyon I could ignore 711 and smile when I saw the Feed Bin, a reminder that I lived somewhere where horses and mountain lions live. I live where the mountains meet the sea. My loss is small in comparison to others, I know.
With loss and heartbreak comes friendships and love. You all know who you are. Thank you for being there for me when I needed a friend, a laugh, a trail, a shoulder or a taco to remind me that the world looks whole lot better through rose colored glasses.

71 miles of wins 29 miles of losses and the best running day in my entire life. Maybe I didn’t get the buckle but does it even matter? This training block I put myself first and spent almost every Saturday on the Bulldog loop chasing faster times each weekend. My fast friends showed up for me and let me hang on to their coat tails as long as I could. Every step of every training run was with the goal in mind to have the best race ever, maybe not quite the end goal I was looking for but buckle up buttercup because Saturday Nov 1 2025 was absolutely life changing. I actually believed in myself and those PR’s don’t lie! Sometimes failing is actually winning!

It’s that time of year again....TOLA!!! I absolutely love sharing what LA actually has to offer, beautiful mountain trails!!! And this group of incredible humans, that always make me feel like I am home!!! Some faces are missing but they will be on the trails to lead the way, point you in the right direction, or bring up the rear. Summer here we come!!! The Bulldog Challenge is about to start and this is something that my dreams are made of!!! Saturday I ran the BBT from Ray Miller to my front door. This was definitely an adventure my soul needed. I haven’t talked much about my survivor guilt because my house still stands, and so many friends lost everything. I really like to look at the world through Rose colored glasses, this adventure was just that! The mountains are full bloom wildflowers, sunrise and sunset was epic! I was honored to have @taelor.june to share the first 26 miles with me, Philip and his pup run “his” backyard section, @kayjean_ to bee bop to Corral and down Bulldog (our first run) and then to find @briannarita_ at Piuma to take us home. She had the hardest leg because my stomach said nope but we did it through the worst of the burn down Hondo in the dark, where the mountain lion lives. 56.25 miles done BACKBONE Trail to home!!! Oh and let’s not forget the best crew captain @blindhund who made sure I was fed and hydrated and did NOT show up at the top of Stunt to take me home. Who doesn’t love sending it on the famous Ray Miller Trail? That is all I wanted to do for my birthday!!

So, here is me, co-founder of @socaltrail on the Point Mugu Half Marathon course doing what I love, flying down a trailrunner’s dream.

You may not recognize me, but you definitely have heard me cheer you on!! I’ll be captain of the Ray Miller aid station on race day and you will hear me before you see me!!

Making room for
