THE NYC PREMIERE OF THE PROS AND CONS OF KILLING YOUR CULT LEADER OPENED THIS WEEK!!!!

It's hard to judge your own work as a writer, but Pros and Cons has now been produced in three different states and performed in six different venues. After every show I have people thanking me for making them feel seen through this story, through these women on stage.

Synchronicity Theatre's Stripped Bare Incubator presents Hannah & Greta, or The Cost of Livin' The Dream, a new work in development written by Bobbi Twiggs and Directed by Charis Sellick.

This loose adaptation of the Hansel and Gretel story follows two recent college grads and wannabe internet-famous friends who fall into the temptations of a job that promises them everything: a decent paycheck, health insurance, and a chance to actually use their degree. But they will soon have to ask how much of themselves they are willing to give up to live their dreams.

I firmly believe children's theatre is one of the most important forms of theatre to support and invest in, and one of the greatest gifts in my artistic career is getting to hold the title of Director/Teacher Bobbi to so many talented, kind, and mature theatre kids 💖

In the last year I've been lucky enough to direct five different middle and high school productions, design and lead a Shakespeare intensive, teach a week of devised theatre, and work on countless other workshops, camps, and after school classes.

I am blessed! I am rich in experiences!! I am almost out of ideas for unique and fun call-and-responses!

One month ago my mother, Lila Jan Duke Twiggs, passed.

The first slides include photos of my sister Hannah and I, followed by our mother, circa 1995, holding Hannah.

The next few are excerpts from the piece I wrote for Write Club Atlanta, reflecting on her passing and our relationship.

My mother and I were not close at the time of her death. I am both mourning her, and the relationship we never had. The relationship I never had with either of my parents before their passing.
My mother and father died having never read anything I've written, never seen any of the theatre I've directed. They never called me by my chosen name, never met any of the people I've dated, and will never see me turn 30.
My mother lived a life defined by her tragedies, her fears. I only have access to one photo of her. I'm thankful to see parts of her own face when I look in the mirror. Parts of her when I look at my sister and and myself, so I might not forget.

Thank you for your condolences this last month. Thank you to my best friends for keeping me safe, and thank you to Hannah for handling 99.99% of the death affairs.

The second ever NoMoWriMo featured a packed house and a new crop of tortured writers entertaining us with stories on shoulder biting, great historical fiction, take downs of Darren Criss, and much more!

Doing what I do best (yelling, screaming even)

My friends, 2024 was ROUGH (ask me about my August- December ALONE bc jesus h christ)

Even before this rough season, the writing and live lit community has been there for me, no questions asked. Giving me spots on your lineup, Shirley Temples, and a shoulder to cry on.

So what an honor and privilege it is to be the host and curator of a new live lit show, and to have a full house on our innagural night. Thank you to everyone who came to NoMoWriMo, we'll see you later this spring.

To quote the piece I read on Friday night:

"And I feel love sitting on the park benches outside dad’s garage after write club, sharing space with my community of artists, this community that kept me living for the last 5 years.

I sometimes deny the love offered to me, feeling like it might just all be out of pity, and that I really am awful after all.
But love is at its strongest when we feel we might not deserve to have it.
I’m thankful to give and receive love with all of you."
