Tuesday night the alarm I set for myself in case I fell asleep went off at 9:06pm. “Gotta head off to practice, otherwise I might not be the second one to get there,” I said before shuffling downstairs to grab my bass and drive to Allston. Sure enough, at 9:33, I was indeed the second person to arrive at “9pm” practice. Casey and I caught up for a few minutes and then the pedal people appeared to plug in all those damn pedals. And just about when all that was done, Noell walks in the door. “Everyone’s here already?” she asks. “Wait, how’d you get in?” we ask back. Noell found her keys again! I think that means we’re up to four members who can actually get into the space without assistance. Damn, this is smooth sailing as far as Major Stars goes! I’m probably gonna get home before midnight!

We make it through the set list... (we actually made a set list!) and figure out how the heck we’re all gonna find our way to NYC to play our show at Pianos on Sunday. Indeed, I get home by midnight but I’m all up in my thoughts wondering how I’m gonna write something personal about the new record for social media. What a world, huh? What’s different this time around? The obvious: Wayne didn’t write all the songs this time! Six years since the last record! There was this whole pandemic thing! Some of us are sixty years old now! Heck, one of us is a dad! What the hell! Best to sleep on it. Good night. Zzzz.

Wednesday is karaoke night and I should be thinking about what songs to sing but it seems everyone is bailing. I’ll probably just go to State Park where our former singer Amanda is spinning records with my current bandmate Kathleen from Adult Learners (Boston ain’t so big). No excuse not to write something today cause I’m busy Thursday with another band practice after work. What to say, what to say... Man, I got nothing. Lots of cool guitars on this record though. I think? I haven’t listened to it in a few months, probably a good idea to give it another go, maybe I’ll remember something. I mean I remember using a bass for the recording session that I had just bought the week before and only practiced with once… (continued in comments) by @twistedvillage
