This Saturday daytime Through the Window – The album by Mad Dan

This is a free event to celebrate the release of this original album. There will be opportunities to buy the album on CD or vinyl on the day and Mad Dan will be performing some original tracks for your listening pleasure.

👉About the band
Back in the 1970s, cousins Chris French and Steve Wells formed a band with Steve’s brother and two others. Writing and performing their own material during the heyday of progressive rock, they never gained any traction outside a few local gigs. Life intervened but, four decades later, Chris and Steve got back together and decided to write and record an album.

With home production technology they gradually assembled the material using virtual and real instruments. The next step was to find some good vocalists to sing the lyrics and complete the project. Through family and friends, contact was made with Jacq Kingsbury, Matt Burgess and James Gerard who kindly agreed to take part.

👉Through the Window, the album…
Steve wrote all the lyrics on the album and Chris did the sleeve artwork and design. The first six songs loosely follow a theme that relates to the conflict between the real world and the online world seen through screens (Through the Window) and the wider ramifications of that conflict.

Mad Dan? Where did the band name come from? Now that would be telling…

We can’t wait to see you there!

We’ve been consistently told we can’t do it, the scene is dead, nobody is attending old-school Metal on a weeknight anymore, especially in Colchester, give it up, move on, times have changed, nobody can afford to go out, has to be free entry, advertising gigs doesn’t work, use TikTok, nobody wants live gigs anymore…

Of course, that is all absolute nonsense, and again Colchester proved it’s one of the most resilient scenes in the country, packing out Three Wise Monkeys Colchester on a Thursday, for three underground Metal bands, playing music that many now wrongly deride, but who play a timeless style, and at the core of what Metal really is.

Many thanks to Three Wise Monkeys for having us, and to Uridium and Regicide for absolutely storming performances, proving they are again two of the best bands around, and more than deserving of the festival successes they have seen.

Finally, thanks to everyone who came out and supported our event, we’re going to be doing more, so keep an eye on this page!
