Just two amateurs renovating a relocated 1930’s Queenslander house on Wangerriburra land - Australia, and documenting our journey along the way.

We are happy to report that the porch area is now complete (minus the front door)! Countless hours of sanding, filling, gapping, painting, replacing the old balustrades with new spotted gum, replacing some of the rotten flooring, oiling, and sheeting the roof. A long list for a relatively small area!
After we had the VJ walls sandblasted, we were a bit concerned about how exposed the grain in the timber became, and if we would ever be able to get a flat finish. But with some sanding using a mix of 40, 80 and 120 grit, the boards actually came up a treat and look incredible, which also means the rest of the interior of the house will look that good too! Such a relief 😮‍💨

Big news! The front of the house is FINALLY finished 🤩
After literally years of work (we stripped that lead paint back in 2021!), the place is looking HOT 🥵 all that’s left now is the porch area, and then the outside of this old girl will be completely restored back to her former glory.

As always, we used @taubmans 3 in 1 Primer, and their All Weather Exterior paint.

August is here, and we have just re-installed these beautiful sash windows, after taking them out to putty, sand, prep and paint them 🪟

And with this project being done, it means we are now VERY close to being finished with the front of the house, painting and all! We will post the finished product soon 😍

And just like that, another side of the house is complete! 🙌
It was definitely a mission, working between heatwaves and a cyclone, but this side is officially sanded, filled, primed and painted. From the painstaking process of sanding and painting all 6 windows, to painting and installing the new window hoods, we are so proud of the end result! 🤩
Only one side left to go now…the front!

As always, using @taubmans 3 in 1 primer & All Weather Exterior - in the shade Miss Universe for the boards and Brilliant White for the trims.

PART ONE - Dustless blasting our interior walls.

As you might remember, we recently did a series trialling the three different @duluxaus Precision Coatings Remover products to strip the lead paint from our interior VJ walls. Well, since then we have learnt a few things, and after a lot of research into different methods, we have decided to go with dustless blasting!

We thought it was about time we showed you our finished bathroom! We are so in love with the choices we made in here, from the statement green tiles, to the wall length shower niche with lighting, and the skylight which really helps to open up this small space. We wanted something that felt earthy, warm and inviting - think showering in a forest canyon 🌿
