Highlight💥purple pole beans— as tasty as a green pole bean and when cooked they change from purple to green🧙‍♀️ (and they are easier on the eyes to harvest imo 🤓)

We also have gobs of basil (make pesto and freeze it for the winter!) plus lots of other late summer things: tomatoes, beets, kale, peppers, squash, cukes, parsley…

Come out early today to @tunkhannockfarmersmarket we will be packing up around 12:00 to head to a wedding! 🥰

Onion scapes are here!
The flower stalk of the onion, they have a sweet, oniony flavor and can be used like any bulb onion or scallion. They are hollow in the middle and crunchy, so cut into 1-2”pieces and sautéed with other veg they become an onion/green bean/noodle thing that is strangely delicious. Come try them out and experiment this Saturday at @tunkhannockfarmersmarket

Have you tried Garlic Scallions/Green Garlic yet?

They are young garlic plants, pulled early in spring. Sort of a “hack” for being able to enjoy garlic long before the bulbs develop. 🤓🍃

They have a mildly sweet garlicky flavor and you can eat the whole plant! Use them like you would garlic, scallions or leeks, ie: in just about anything 😏

Some beaut moments on this busy busy day!

The garden is filling up quickly, lots and lots of planting is happening and we are feeling sooo excited but also a little anxious too.

During this time of year (before we see the fruits of our labor, literally) everything feels uncertain. Some say farming is a science, or an art, it’s also a huge act of faith— prepping the beds, sowing the seeds, and believing that the sun, the rain, the soil, the seeds, will all mingle and co-create new bursts of life! It’s humbling—we can’t be in control of everything and many things will not go as planned.

BUT we’ve nestled some new plants in the ground and are dreaming of their textures, beauty and taste. Here are some new additions we hope to share with you this year (if they decide so): rainbow chard, bare necessities kale (frilly, light, nice in salads), and Indigo radicchio.

These are all trials, so we might not have a ton to share. If you’d like to get first dibs on experiments consider signing up for a weekly veggie box! (See our pinned posts for more info)
