We’ve got SO many new faces in our IG family, so it’s introduction time DUH! 💁🏾‍♀️Hey cousins! We’re Bree + Chantell, your favorite traveling outdoorsy wife duo. We actually started this page some years ago (2017/2018) as a way to share our travels with family and friends. Fast forward to 2020, we decided to take content creation seriously, and that’s when @twogrlsoneworld was born. Together, we have traveled to 25 countries, 28 states, and 9 national parks. I (Bree) come from a traveling family and started young, but once we started dating in 2015 and traveled to our first country together, Costa Rica, that’s when Chantell caught the travel bug. ✈️✨Did you notice that we refer to everyone as “cousin”? Well, that’s because we TRULY believe in the power of community and when you decide to be apart of ours, you become family. What’s more family-like than your favorite cousin? 😆 FUN FACTS: 👩🏾‍⚕️Bree- a Nurse Practioner💻Chantell- a Supervisor in Social Services🥩We used to be vegetarian, but recently started eating meat again because of some health reasons 🎶Chantell used to play the clarinet in her high school band🩰Bree was a competitive dancer in high school. Cousin, we heard you’re planning a trip to New Orleans, Louisiana! 👀⚜️Next time invite us, but make sure to add these experiences to your itinerary beyond just Bourbon Street. 👉🏾 Follow @twogrlsoneworld & comment “NOLA” for our FREE First Timer’s Guide to New Orleans!HERE are 7 things we think are worth your time:1️⃣ Explore inside the St. Louis Cathedral. Alot of people don’t realize you can go inside of the church and it’s free. Highly recommend as it’s absolutely beautiful, but please be respectful as people are in there throughout the day for prayer. 2️⃣ Try authentic beignets ☕️. There are so many places in New Orleans that sell beignets, but you can never go wrong with our favs: Tee Tee @lorettaspralines, @thevintagenola, @cafedumonde (it’s popular for a reason and their Cafe Au Lait is OMG!) and @cafebeignetnola. (Royal Street) 3️⃣Take a ride on the historic streetcars 🚋 This is a fun and very cheap way to explore and move around the city. (Saint Charles Line is our favorite!) 4️⃣Wander through the Garden District 🌺 Take a free walking tour, stroll down Magazine Street and peek into their vintage shops, or grab beignets at The Vintage.5️⃣Visit @jam.nola. A fun activity for all ages and an interactive way to learn about the city. 6️⃣Explore City Park 🌳 You can easily spend a day here riding bikes, visiting the museums, grabbing beignets at Cafe Du Monde, or having a picnic. 7️⃣Experience Louisiana culture beyond the tourist spots. Highly recommend attending a second line, exploring the Treme neighborhood and Congo Square for black history, jazz, and even a visit to @backstreetculturalmuseum to learn about the infamous Mardi Gras Black Indians. Yes, it’s alot of fun, but don’t limit yourself to Bourbon Street. New Orleans is one of those places that feels completely unique, but a little preparation can make your trip even BETTER. 😍Here are a few things we wish someone had told us before visiting New Orleans, Louisiana:📍 Don’t plan your entire trip around Bourbon Street. While it’s iconic, and we definitely still visit every now and again to grab us a hand grenade 😅, but the best parts of New Orleans are often found beyond the nightlife.👟 Pack comfortable shoes. You’ll walk way more than you expect while exploring the French Quarter, Garden District, and other incredible neighborhoods. Some streets are cobblestone and NO joke. Save ya ankles!☀️ Prepare for the heat. New Orleans gets HOT, and the humidity is very real. If you can, we’d avoid visiting in the middle of summer unless you’re visiting for Essence Festival, because that’s an experience worth sweating for. 😂 If the summer is the only time, then make sure to pack lightweight clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, and try to do majority of your activities when it has cooled down (early morning/early evening.)🍽️ Come hungry. The New Orleans food scene is one of the best in the country. Argue with ya mama! Beignets, gumbo, po’boys, crawfish, chargrilled oysters and that’s just the beginning. Let your taste buds do most of the exploring. 🎷 Leave room to wander. Some of our favorite memories came from just ollowing the music, exploring side streets, and letting the city set the pace. Never know what you’ll run into! Hiking is more than just putting one foot in front of the other.👀For many Black women, stepping into outdoor spaces come with extra layers. Literally an eye roll 🙄 because “You’re almost there” might be the biggest lie told on every hiking trail! 😂Everyone’s “there” is different. An “almost there” can mean 5 more minutes or another mile, three switchbacks, and 1000ft elevation gain later. What a time, what a time! 😆Living in Utah as a Black, lesbian couple was filled with moments that challenged us, inspired us, and reminded us why we love exploring new places. We never thought that after visiting in September 2021, we would pack up everything four months later and move from our long time home of Atlanta, GA to begin a new chapter sight unseen. So if you want to talk about taking risks, you are looking at two people who know alllll about that life and don’t mind doing it again and again. 😎And while no place is perfect, every place has something to teach you (if you allow it to) and Utah taught us to say “yes” to adventure even when you’re scared. And here we were two black women, with tattoos, swimsuits, locs. We both were like 😳😂One of our favorite days! Our Thanksgiving meal was a grilled cheese sandwich sitting in Chantell’s truck with a view of Moonscape Overlook. 😍Y’all, I was seeing black! And the sun was setting so we were having to hike fast too OMG! 🫠These photos were the start of our content creator career. 🥰@marissarosephotographyAlot of bugs here, btw! But a super cool area of Utah.We still cry about this one. 🥲Y’all should’ve seen our faces when we pulled up like “Where is the sand?!”Such a fun day! (We can’t make any promises. 😂)Now for the part we’re REALLY excited about...Camp Camp offers 30+ activities every single day, so everyone gets to create the experience that’s right for them. There are beautiful places and then there’s Banff National Park.🥹 Banff made us take a packed itinerary, scrap it, and slow down. We just simply explored and let the Canadian Rockies guide our journey. If you’re planning a trip to Banff, Alberta, give yourself permission to wander. Visit the iconic lakes, but don’t be afraid to pull over at the viewpoints, take longer on the trail, or spend a little longer soaking it all in.
