Mirissa, Srilanka

One of the most instagrammed spots in Mirissa, Sri Lanka is the Coconut Tree hill. Because of a slight mishap that morning and a detour with our GPS, we were hard pressed on time. But we had to get to our next town before the sun went down else we would be in for some very risky adventurous late night encounters with elephants on the highway.

So the best we could manage en route was a pic with a coconut tree and the ocean in the background.

Sometimes the best part about travel is quick on the spot split second decisions like these. Being proactive, figuring out work arounds if things don't go the way we wanted and accommodating last minute change of plans are all part of the fun and thrill of travel.

PS: There is a secret beach in Mirissa which is not so secret anymore because you can look it up on Google maps. 🤣 by @twoindianpassports

Country #91 Srilanka is definitely up on my list of beautiful train journeys. This train ride from Ella to Kandy was indeed very scenic.

Expectation: Remember the famous pic of couple hanging out from the train and kissing (See pic)

Reality: Too scared to put our heads out of a moving train even for a pic of video. (Fear of losing my phone, GoPro or simplylosing balance)

The adventure quotient in my DNA is not that great at the moment I suppose 😅 Probably will come back after I turn 65 when I have nothing to lose and change the definition of "Crazy" 🤣

Los Angeles city Hall

I generally try to read up about any building before I visit. For me the why and when and how and what for a building came into existence interests me more. Some facts that caught my eye about Los Angeles City hall.

LA City hall was the tallest building in California from 1928-1964. At 454-foot tall, it remained the tallest building for four decades as no buildings were given permission to be built taller than it. It was also the first building allowed to break the 13-story height limit laid out for earthquake safety measures

Well if you have seen the old Superman movie you would have seen this building for sure. Remember The newspaper: The Daily planet. Yes it was this building. Other Movies and Tv shows like War of the worlds, Speed, L.A. Confidential, Gangster’s Squad, and La La Land were also shot here.

Though the design was largely based on Nebraska State Capitol building, the crown part was modeled on the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

The Observation deck on the 27th floor is free to visit where you can capture amazing views including the Hollywood Sign. We arrived late and missed the docent guided tour but it is so informative and sure is worth your time. by @twoindianpassports
