That’s a wrap on our 2025 camping season. We finished it off in the beautiful Mew Lake campground in Algonquin. The first snowfall of the season welcomed us with open arms on the drive into the park. With Kaya’s ashes nestled in beside me it felt as though she was saying I’m here. November 1st marked the first anniversary of her passing and while some may think it’s weird that I brought her along on our final trip of the year the thought of leaving her home weighed heavily on my heart. It was the right choice for me and having her there brought me a sense of comfort I can’t quite explain. The site was incredibly beautiful and tranquil, the hiking just strenuous enough to keep my mind at peace. Cozy morning fires with a steaming hot cup of tea. I will miss these days as the depths of winter embrace us. Until next year. 💗

Here it is. What we’re leaving in 2025 and bringing into this beautiful new year. I’m looking for a year full of personal growth and exploration with these two little loves. What is on your list? Let’s talk about it ⬇️Thanks for being with us in 2025💗

I will fight for my life on a hike any days for views like this with these two because this is my therapy.

Showing you how easy it is to take them with you one camping trip at a time. If that’s for you you’re in the right place. EDIT ~ This isn’t to say that all of my friends aren’t welcome here or loved. It’s just not my personal page💗

It’s that time of year again. The heat clicks on and Nova finds his favourite spot in front of the heat vent.

Lake Superior Provincial Park-August 22-27th.
All I have to say is wow. LSPP is incredible. We spent 5 days here and one post just isn’t going to do it justice so there will be a few. I really see IG as a diary of sorts. Something for me to look back on. I kept saying this is like the Algonquin of the North.(without the crowds😂) It’s a BIG park with the trails all off the highway. We stayed in the Agawa Bay campground with an obstructed view of Lake Superior but that’s okay it was still beautiful. The sunsets were beautiful and the dog beach was really fun for the pups. This park has moved into my top 5, I only wish it were closer. I recommend more than a couple of days here as there is so much to see and do. Keep in mind there is no store or gas station within the park and the drive to the closest town Wawa is about an hour drive away. We did it once during our stay to get a few things we forgot and on the way back hiked one of the incredible trails and visited Old Woman Bay which I’ll share later. by @twopupstogo

Samuel de Champlain July 17-19.
This was a hard one. You see Sammy D is our absolute favourite Ontario provincial park. It has been for years. We’ve been camping in this park for years at times spending two whole weeks there. Perfect paddling, beautiful hikes, a lazy river to float down and so many waterfront sites. To say we have a ton of family memories is an understatement. I’m sure most know of the devastation that took place during the freak down burst in the park in June of 2025. I cried when I saw it. It was a very somber and humbling moment. Mother nature is so powerful. The park staff and construction crews are hard at work trying to recover what they can and I can’t wait to see what they decide to do in the coming years. I’ll have some footage of the damage posted in my stories. by @twopupstogo

Happy Happy 3rd Gotcha day Nova. This meatball is 4 now! Who knew that day 3 years ago when we picked you up at the shelter how much you’d change our lives. You are so so loved. You’ve come so far in three years and I couldn’t ask for a better sidekick, neither could Alma💗Let the spoiling begin 🎂💗 by @twopupstogo

Happy Happy 2nd Birthday my sweet spunky girl. You are so loved! I can’t believe how fast the past 2 years has gone. No longer a puppy but definitely still the wild child and I wouldn’t change that for anything 💗We did some celebrating over the weekend at one of our favourite places and there will be plenty of fun treats throughout the day. We love you Alma🎂💗 by @twopupstogo

Canisbay Provincial Park July 17-19.
Algonquin is always a hit. The campsites are varied in size and privacy, the paddling is incredible and there is a hike for everyone’s ability. This time we did Hemlock Bluff Trail and Hardwood Lookout Trail. Hemlock Bluff is a 3.5 km moderate trail that passes through old-growth eastern Hemlock and mixed hardwood forest. It has a beautiful panoramic view of Jack Lake. I would definitely recommend some good hiking shoes or boots for this hike. Hardwood Lookout trail is a short 1km Loop trail. It is labeled as moderate with a short, steep final incline to the viewpoint the path winds through a gorgeous hardwood forest and ends at a scenic overlook with views of smoke Lake and the surrounding hills. Both trails were beautiful. But Hemlock Bluff has earned a high ranking for its varied beauty with us. It was another rainy gloomy camping trip but that didn’t stop us. Don’t worry we’ve also had some wonderful sunny trips too. by @twopupstogo

Emily Provincial Park June 26-28. I have a few things to say that stuck out about this park. I LOVED our site and how private it was. The lemon chiffon ice cream from the park store was just about the best ice cream I’ve ever had. The Trent Severn Waterway is extremely busy and extremely weedy, but still pretty. While there aren’t many hiking trails in the park, you can take the Kawartha trans Canada Trail, which is about a 10 minute drive from the park. On the first day, we parked at the side of the road and followed the trail approximately 7 km there and back. After realizing we went the wrong way to view The Doube’s Trussell Bridge we decided to go back the next day to view that. I found a turtle nesting just up from our site on our final morning at the park which I reported to park staff. From this park, you can easily visit many attractions in the Peterborough area. This park was busy. It was a beautiful sunny weekend and there were tons of people on the water and at the beach. It’s not my favourite camping vibe so we’re probably one and done but it’s definitely worth the visit.

I didn’t mean to take as long of a break as I did but apparently I needed it. Life happens and I appreciate everyone that checked in on me. If you’re interested, we visited Mikisew provincial Park June 19th of 21st and I didn’t take many pictures so I’m just going to put that up on stories. I really enjoyed Mikisew and I would love to go back when the weather is a little bit better. It did rain quite a bit the weekend that we were there as you’ll be able to see. They really see dogs as part of the family and have gone above and beyond to include a space, especially for them, which I appreciate so much even though we didn’t get to use it. by @twopupstogo

Marten River provincial park June 5-7. Making the most of a rainy weekend and getting out when the sun was shining. Not every camping trip has perfect weather conditions but making the most of your time is what counts. Marten River has some beautiful lakes that are the gateway to the Temagami region and they’re perfect for paddling. A walkable park that tricks your mind into thinking you’re on a hike is helpful. It’s both hilly and scenic. The bugs after rain are just not it and hiking trails this time of year can be treacherous 🤭🪰so we opted for a short hiking trail and mostly walking this beautiful park including the old logging camp/museum. While it rains the dogs typically take a nap in their crates while we play games and cards. Alma had us cracking up with her many sleeping positions. Have you been to this park? What was your favourite thing. Where do you think we should go next? by @twopupstogo
