Meet our founder, Adam McIntosh - also known as Scotland's Gem Hunter, Indiana Stones, The Jewel Chief, and of course 'Two Skies' (a name bestowed by Stone Eagle of the Mi’kmaq tribe). Born in Scotland, he spent formative childhood years in Papua New Guinea, which inspired a lifelong passion to travel the world and engage with diverse people along the way.

Two Skies the company, then, started not with a business plan but with a kilt, a guitar, and a one-way ticket out of Edinburgh! In 2001, Adam set off with little but his skills as a folk singer and storyteller. He hitch-hiked, and survived on care packages of shortbread sent from sponsors at home. But while following what his Dad (the human ecologist Alastair McIntosh) calls 'the faerie path through life' - marked by eccentricity, adventure, and the kindness of strangers - he discovered an unexpected passion for gemstones, and the stories they carry.

Adam lived with the Mi’kmaq in Nova Scotia, traded songs for turquoise in Arizona, and was handed a sack of opals in Australia in exchange for a round of beers. There were a few wild moments too, including a run-in with gangsters in the Dominican Republic, and time spent living with a witchdoctor in Africa! By the time he returned home, Adam had many stories to tell, plus a backpack full of fantastic rocks.

With just a blanket and a wheelbarrow as our first Royal Mile 'premises', Two Skies the jewellers had a very humble beginning ... But Adam quickly became known for his uniquely hands-on, ethical approach to collecting rough materials, and for the skill of the artisans that came on board to bring his visions to life. He was even featured on TV, becoming a regular on the BBC's 'One Show'.

Today, the Two Skies journey continues through every piece we make - jewellery with meaning, made from real stones, shaped by real stories. And after years of travelling the world, Adam has come to realise that the best stones were underneath his feet in Scotland all along! Hand-panned gold from the Highlands, our national gemstone Cairngorm smoky quartz, and the incredibly rare Isle of Lewis sapphire have become our specialities. by @twoskiesscotland

We’re so excited to finally announce the grand opening of our Rock & Gemstone Museum as part of the Scottish Geology Festival! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This museum has been many years in the making, carefully curated by gemmologist and Two Skies founder Adam McIntosh. The collection showcases some of Scotland’s most exceptional rocks and gemstones, alongside high-grade fossils and mineral specimens from around the world. 🗺️

This is a unique opportunity to meet Adam in person and gain an insight into his world-class collection, built through more than 20 years of mining, exploration, and gemstone collecting. ⛏️

As this is a private collection, the museum will only be open to the public a handful of times each year, making this a particularly rare opportunity to experience these extraordinary specimens up close. ✨

Following an incredible response on Eventbrite, all guided tour spaces for the day are now fully booked. However, Adam would like to invite all of his followers to join us for an open after-party from 5PM to 8PM. Feel free to bring your own refreshments, explore the museum at your own pace, and celebrate this exciting milestone with us. ❤️

We look forward to welcoming you to our Rock & Gemstone Museum for an unforgettable day of geology, gemstones, and discovery. 💫

📅 Saturday 27th June 2026, 5PM - 8PM
📍 Craigencalt Farm by Kinghorn Loch, Fife, KY3 9YG
