Elizabeth Music Group is proud to administer @txpflr , whose work includes the standout single Since Way Back by Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR. This collaboration, produced alongside G. Ry and Merge, represents a defining moment for TOPFLR and is a highlight in Drake’s celebrated catalog. Since Way Back is track 19 on Drake’s 2017 album More Life.

What inspired the creation of the song?

“The initial creation of this song came from an amalgam of samples I had been sending to G. Ry at the time, along with additional production from Merge,” TOPFLR shares. “I was heavily inspired by lofi-sounding keys and pads while finding ways to incorporate my gospel background into my samples and keeping it palpable.”

How did you collaborate with the other people on the song?

“At the time, I was purely a sample/melody maker. Since Way Back came from one of those packs,” explains TOPFLR. The collaboration grew naturally, with G. Ry taking those samples and crafting the production into something exceptional.

What does this song mean for you personally?

“It means a great deal,” TOPFLR reflects. “This was my first ever real placement. Coming from Toronto, for it to be a Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR collab is the wildest first placement I could imagine. On top of that, being able to work with G. Ry—someone whose music I chased and looked up to before he even knew who I was—truly opened up a lot of doors for me.” by @txpflr
