Magazine Article Features Archaeological Research by TXST Students and Faculty

Archeological research carried out by TXST at the Mockingbird Gap Clovis site in New Mexico is the subject of a feature article in the Fall 2026 edition of American Archaeology magazine, a quarterly publication of the Archaeological Conservancy. Mockingbird Gap is a sprawling archaeological site associated with the 13,000 year old Clovis technocomplex, located adjacent to ancient riverbed in what is now a dry desert landscape. The article highlights research by graduate students Gwen Olivier and Matt Mele, who are part of an interdisciplinary team led by Dr. David Kilby along with colleagues from other universities. The Archaeological Conservancy is a non-profit organization that acquires and preserves archaeological sites around the United States.

Link in bio. A screenshot of a webpage featuring an article under the tags "American Archaeology Magazine" and "New Mexico." The headline reads, "Researchers combine collections, technologies to better understand Mockingbird Gap," with a subtext of "Sep 2, 2026 - 4 min read." Below the text is an image displaying a grid of over a dozen stone projectile points in various shades of brown, red, and gray resting on a black background. Several of the artifacts have small white catalog labels attached to them, and a black-and-white checkered measurement scale is partially visible at the bottom. by @txst.anthro
