“Sometimes I regret taking risks, but I always regret doing nothing.” 🇯🇵✨

One of our TXST students headed to Nagoya, Japan to continue strengthening their Japanese language skills while gaining a deeper understanding of Japanese history and culture.

Having visited Japan before, this experience was an opportunity to return with new purpose — continuing their language journey while creating meaningful memories abroad.

Study abroad is not always about having everything perfectly planned — sometimes it starts with simply deciding to go. ✈️ Gunnar Witcher by @txstedabroad

“Shakespeare has always been an author who comes pretty easily to me, all thanks to my AP English teacher from high school. She was one of the reasons why I chose this specific program.” 🎭✨

We’re proud to celebrate Gabriella Banda and her study abroad experience in London and Stratford, where she had the opportunity to explore her passion for theatre and Shakespeare in the places connected to his work. 🇬🇧

Gabriella chose this program because of her appreciation for theatre, her interest in exploring new places, and the opportunity to experience theatre history and performance in London and Stratford.

Making this opportunity possible also took commitment and planning. Gabriella worked, saved earnings from her job, received support from her family, and applied for scholarships to help make studying abroad possible.

Her advice to future students considering an international experience:

“If you don’t go on a study abroad, you may regret missing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.” ✈️

Gabriella’s story is a reminder that studying abroad can be an opportunity to pursue an academic interest in a new setting, explore your passions, and experience a different culture firsthand. Gabriella Banda by @txstedabroad

“What inspired me to study abroad is the idea of opportunity and how far I have come as a first-generation student and Latina.” 🇪🇸✨

Damaris took her Criminal Justice studies abroad to Madrid, Spain, where she connected her academic path with global perspectives on justice, youth support, and community impact.

With the support of a scholarship, Damaris was able to make this experience a reality and focus on the personal, academic, and professional growth that came with studying abroad. 🌍

While in Madrid, she explored the city’s history and culture, experienced everyday life in Spain, and built confidence through real-world Spanish immersion. Most importantly, she stepped outside of her comfort zone and discovered new opportunities that once felt out of reach.

Her advice to future students?

“Don’t rule it out too quickly… there are more scholarships and support options than you might expect. Apply even if you are unsure.” 💙✨ Damaris Barcenas by @txstedabroad
