While I was studying at Texas Wesleyan University, I spent a lot of time in Nicholas Martin Hall-- long enough to have heard a few stories about Georgia, the ghost with a seat reserved for every concert (#13). The Ann Waggoner Fine Arts Annex and the building that houses Nicholas Martin Hall stands on the old Dobkins family graveyard. All but three graves were relocated when the school bought the land. Sightings of Georgia go back to the 1950s. She's well-known as a music lover, so her seat is upholstered in a different color from the rest of the concert hall to set it apart. . #filmcommunity #darkroom #analogphotography #monochrome by @txwesmusic

Laura Lootens – Dreams and Caprices 🎶 Praised for her “fearless virtuosity,” and “capacity for pure theatre and drama”, Laura Lootens has emerged as one of the most compelling classical guitarists of her generation - from a concert debut at the prestigious Amsterdam Concertgebouw to recognition as a Classic FM Rising Star. This season, she brings her Dreams & Caprices to stages across the United States. In this recital, music by Chopin, Mertz, and Barrios meets the striking modernism of George Rochberg, moving from Romantic elegies and waltzes to intricate, virtuosic caprices. The guitar shifts from whispered intimacy to breathtaking virtuosity, opening up an entire world of colour and emotion. Join us for an evening of exceptional classical guitar with one of the most exciting artists of her generation! We love hosting local artists here at Wesleyan and we hope you come!
