10 lessons I want my kids to learn from me:
.
1. You never have to earn my love.
    Your performance may change. Your place in this family never will.
2. Have the courage to do what’s right.
    Especially when it’s unpopular, inconvenient, or nobody would know the difference.
3. Pay attention to how you make people feel.
    Learn names. Listen. Include the person standing on the outside.
4. Own your mistakes and help make them right.
    An apology matters. What you do after the apology matters, too.
5. Keep promises to yourself.
    Following through, especially when you don’t feel like it, teaches you to trust yourself.
6. Be willing to be a beginner.
    Don’t let the fear of looking inexperienced keep you from becoming good at something.
7. Preparation is how you build confidence.
    Put in the work before the moment arrives. Give yourself a reason to believe in yourself.
8. Ask for help before you have everything figured out.
    You don’t have to carry every hard thing alone.
9. You can be competitive and kind.
    Pursue your goals with everything you have. Treat people well along the way.
10. Celebrate other people’s success.
    Someone else winning doesn’t make you less. Be the person who cheers for others and helps them get better.
