From an unexpected departure from the office to behind-the-scenes experiences, the day was designed to keep the surprises coming while celebrating the people behind the accomplishment.

Each surprise was an opportunity to reinforce teamwork, recognize achievement, and create memories the group could share long after they returned to the office.

Some of the most meaningful moments at an event happen in the spaces between everything else.

🔆 The few quiet seconds after a speaker finishes.
🔆 The breath before an important announcement.
🔆 The space where guests can simply look around and take it all in.

We often think of a successful event as one that keeps moving. But sometimes, giving people a moment to pause is what allows them to truly experience what comes next.

🍂 Fall doesn’t have to mean pumpkins, leaves, and everything in orange.

When seasonal details are thoughtfully layered into the experience, they can add warmth and character without taking over the room.

Sometimes, walking into a room full of people can still feel a little lonely.

Then you spot someone you know.

A familiar face can make an unfamiliar room feel easier to enter. It can turn the first few minutes from awkward to comfortable, and sometimes that small moment of recognition is all it takes to feel like you belong there.

We can plan the room, the program, and the experience — but some of the most meaningful moments happen simply because the right people are in the same place.

An event doesn’t begin when the doors open — and it doesn’t necessarily end when the last guest leaves.

There’s an emotional journey happening alongside the schedule.

Because great event design isn’t just about what happens next. It’s about how each moment makes the next one feel.

Before adding more, it can be worth asking:

What could we simply do differently?

Small adjustments, when made intentionally, can have a big impact on the guest experience.

More than 700 people came together, both in person and online, to support a cause that touches countless lives.

The Mental Health Foundation’s 17th Annual Hybrid Fundraising Breakfast created space for honest conversations, vulnerable storytelling, and meaningful action.

The event also invited attendees to participate in an interactive butterfly installation, sharing names and messages for people they know. Those messages continue beyond the breakfast through a future display at Alberta Hospital.

Not every meaningful moment happens on stage.

Sometimes it begins with a casual introduction during a reception. A shared story over dinner. A conversation that starts while waiting for the program to begin — and continues long after the event ends.

Those moments may not appear on the schedule, but they can lead to new ideas, stronger relationships, unexpected opportunities, or simply the feeling of being understood.

Music can change the energy of a room before guests even realize it.

There isn’t one “best” option. The right choice depends on the event’s purpose, audience, venue, and the role music needs to play throughout the experience.

Before choosing entertainment, start with one question:
"How do you want the room to feel?".
