I spent 6 weeks trying to figure out why my office kept making random cat screaming noises.

Well, my United flight turned out to be more eventful than expected. ✈️

For everyone asking what happened…

After three announcements asking for medical assistance, nobody was getting up. Then the crew announced there was an unresponsive child. I immediately hit my call button.

I found a little girl lying completely limp across two seats. She was breathing, but unresponsive, with a temperature of 106°F.

I immediately began a sternal rub to stimulate a response. At first, nothing. I continued, talking to her the entire time, until she finally started squirming. I kept asking her questions, encouraging her to respond, and eventually she began nodding her head. That was a huge relief. ❤️

My focus was keeping her responsive, cooling her down, and getting fluids and fever medication into her if she could safely swallow. She was bundled up in dress pants, sneakers, and socks. I asked her mother if I could remove some layers. “Do whatever you need to do,” she said.

I requested cold washcloths, wrung them out, and placed them under her arms. We removed the extra clothing and worked on getting her to take Tylenol. Convincing a sick little girl to take medicine was its own emergency.

I was also connected to a physician on the ground, but the conversation wasn’t helpful, so I handed the phone back to the flight attendant and focused on her.

Thankfully, she became more responsive. When we landed, paramedics were waiting at the gate. They boarded the plane and took over her care.

When I returned to my seat, the cabin applauded. 🥹 A flight attendant asked if I needed anything.

My response? “Fucking Prosecco!” 🥂😂

Afterward, United’s corporate Global Solutions team personally called to thank me and sent a thoughtful email and travel certificate. I was genuinely touched.

But I didn’t help for recognition. There was a little girl who needed help, a terrified mother, and a crew doing their best in a frightening situation.

I’m grateful she began responding and that I could be there when it mattered.

Thank you, @united , for the kindness, the recognition, and, most importantly, the Prosecco. ✈️🥂

What a week at the 2026 Vizient Connections Summit in Las Vegas.

Grateful for the opportunity to represent The Valley Health System alongside such an incredible team.

The Vizient Connections Summit brings healthcare leaders from across the country together to share ideas, learn from one another, and explore new ways to improve how we deliver care.

One of the highlights was showcasing some of the work happening at Valley. Our poster, “From Reactive to Predictive: Optimizing OR Supply Chain,” highlighted how materials analytics and forecasting helped transform our approach to OR inventory management, generating more than $103,000 in savings while maintaining surgical volume and readiness.

Proud of the work. Proud of this team. And proud to represent. @valleyhealthsystemnj @vizient by @tyfranco
