I Help People Who've Not Gotten Far With Therapy, Meds, or Coping Skills to Reduce Anxiety by 75% or More in 90 Days. See My Full Method Explained👇
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
If I died tomorrow and I could only have you remember 2 things for you to learn how to get the mental health you deserve, they would be:

1) Your mental health is not determined by how your life is. It is determined by how your mind thinks about how your life is.

2) You can learn to train your brain to think differently by default, which will change how you FEEL by default.

The first step in making this change is awareness. You have to get very clear on what the patterns are that have caused you pain up until now.

This post will help you identify what some of your major patterns probably are right now that are causing anxiety.

The second step is to map out an alternative to train your brain to do.

The framework I teach my clients is to create an "If / Then" plan.

It goes like this: "When X occurs, don't do Y, do Z instead."

My recommendation for you is to identify the top 3 distortions out of this post that you do (that's the Y).

Then identify what the biggest trigger is for each of those old patterns (that's the X).

Then write out a new response or a new thought that you will train yourself to do instead.

Commit to catching yourself when the old pattern emerges and then implementing the new one.

Let me know in the comments what your biggest distortion is, and if you feel stuck I can help you come up with a new plan to disrupt and replace your old pattern.

You got this guys.

❤️ Ty

Can I be totally real with you guys for a minute?

I absolutely hate social media.

I never had MySpace.

I was the last kid in school to sign up for Facebook, and even when I did have it I soon stopped checking my newsfeed entirely.

In fact, I haven't used social media as a consumer of content in over 8 years.

Sure, if I have something specific I want to know, I will look it up on YouTube, but I have always detested spending time on social media.

The only thing I ever felt was worse was POSTING stuff about my life on social media.

Even as I'm writing this, I just feel "icky" all over.

I hate what social media is doing to our brains and our mental health (watch The Social Dilemma if you haven't yet.)

I hate what it is doing to our politics and how it is making our culture more divided than it already was.

I have always hated the idea of meticulously editing our reality down into a heavily filtered, bite-sized chunk that we think will get us the most validation from the internet.

I hate that social media creates an incentive to lie to the world about who we are, how we look, and what we believe.

So why the hell do I post every day?

Because my true passion is to help people have the mental health they deserve.

I truly know in my bones that anyone can have great mental health so long as they have the right skills, the right knowledge, and the right system in place.

It breaks my heart that there is anyone in the world struggling with anxiety or depression when it is avoidable.

And so years ago when I fell in love with coaching and I wanted to share the tools I learned to help people, someone told me that I "had to" be on social media.

My wife took this photo when we were doing a "photo shoot" (blegh) and I was feeling the strange flurry of emotions of not even wanting a picture to be taken of me in the first place.

So I'm struggling to figure out how to use this platform as a way to truly do what I love to do: HELP, but if you decide to stick around as a follower, you will see me trying, daily. taken in Washington, D.C. by @tyhickscoaching

Who wants a free copy of our ebook “The 15-Minute Daily Habit That Will Remove Intrusive, Anxious Thoughts (And Help Train Your Brain to Feel Content By Default)"?

This free, 8-page guide will help you reduce intrusive thoughts, get control over your mood, and increase your ability to focus.

Over the past several years I’ve mastered the art of helping people learn how to actually train the brain to feel content and calm by default...

Check out our company results:

• To date, we’ve helped 513 clients reduce anxiety by 75% on average in 90 days or less.

• At least 4 clients a month are dealing with severe anxiety attacks, and we are able to teach them how to get rid of them typically in 30 days time.

• And each year, I typically have about 15 clients who are dealing with depression caused by the anxiety but are able to get their thinking under control with a combination of my conditioning methods.

And that’s not even taking into account the other 12+ clients a month that are dealing with chronic stress that establish daily peace of mind using our methods.

I have a proven formula that I use every time.

It worked for me individually, and it works for my clients.

I recently wrote a brand new, 8-page report that I released to our paid clients only.

Inside you will learn:

• How to determine what your current Emotional Center of Gravity is (and how to shift it so that you can feel calm and content even in troubling circumstances)

• What the 5 Anxiety Inducing Questions are that you must avoid if you truly want to overcome anxiety

• 16 strategies you can use to train your brain to feel content and calm by default

You keep trying to change the behavior.

But what were you saying to yourself right before it happened?

The same thoughts can trigger the same feelings… which can lead you back into the same behaviors.

Start noticing the phrases your mind repeats.

Save this and listen for yours today.

Your mind says:

“No one likes me.”

That doesn’t make it true.

Sometimes your brain takes one painful moment and turns it into a conclusion about your entire identity.

You’re allowed to question the story.

If you don’t have all the information, it may be an assumption—not who you are.

Save this for the next time your mind makes a judgment about you.

You made a mistake.

Your brain turned it into:

“I’m a failure.”

Your daughter is upset → “I’m a bad dad.”

Your partner feels disconnected → “I’m a bad husband.”

That’s the trap.

A moment of imperfect feedback becomes a verdict on your entire identity.

You didn’t become a bad person because you had a bad moment.

What if trying to get rid of anxiety is keeping anxiety at the center of your life?

When the question is always:

“How do I make this stop?”
“Why am I still anxious?”
“How do I get rid of this?”

your attention keeps coming back to the same place.

Try asking a different question:

“How do I build a life I actually want to live?”

Recovery isn’t just about making anxiety smaller.

It’s about making your life bigger.

The fear wasn’t just anxiety.

It was the fear that a little anxiety would turn into a full-blown panic attack.

Now he can feel uncomfortable without spiraling—because he knows he has tools to work through it.

What if feeling lighter isn’t about becoming someone new?

What if it’s about taking off all the roles you thought you had to play?

The fixer. The achiever. The people-pleaser. The one who holds everything together.

Sometimes freedom is realizing: “I don’t have to be that person anymore.”

The more certainty you require, the more anxiety has to work with.

“What was that feeling?”
“Why did that happen?”
“How do I make sure it doesn’t happen again?”

Sometimes the better response is:

“That felt weird. It’s over. I don’t need to figure it out.”

If you believe “I’m not a good dad,” your brain will start looking for evidence to prove you right.

That doesn’t make the belief true.

Ask instead: “What is actually true?” Then deliberately look for the small, medium, and big evidence your mind has been ignoring.

Something that happened years ago can still shape your life today…

not because you’re permanently damaged.

But because your mind may still be operating from the belief you created back then.

You’re allowed to question the old belief and build a new one.
