Short and sweet this Sunday!

Bounces are a simple yet effective way we can get a nice warmup. Helps us pick the short hop and teach us soft hands while giving us the right move by letting the ball travel.

Banded blocks are another great pregame warmup routine to help train our body to move fast with the assistance and to train against resistance.

Training at a new facility this week🤙🏽should be big time. HMU to get on the schedule. by @tyjo_trainz

Haven’t posted in a while but that doesn’t mean the lessons have stopped I’ve just been terrible at videotaping!

I’ve been working with Peyton for a months now and the kid loves to get after it. He’s at the age where BBCOR bats come into play🤢.

They’re heavy, have less pop and It’s a big adjustment so we’ve done some heavy bat training and we’ve been working a lot on driving the ball to right field instead of letting the heavy bat pull our weight off the ball.

As we get older it gets easier but how can we still compete NOW? You get in the cage and train the right way to separate yourself from the rest. Message me to get on the schedule🤙🏽 by @tyjo_trainz

First let’s shoutout Nixon for coming to train on his birthday. My boy gets after it and is a sponge when it comes to learning. I’m lucky enough to work with him twice a week and watch him grow. This kid will be one hell of a player in a few years if he keeps this up.

Alright now let’s talk blocking from a knee, specifically our right knee down (RKD). Catching has evolved, you hardly ever see a catcher on two feet anymore or “old school”. There’s pros and cons to the new style of catching. Just to name a few

Pros: -better receiving
-Blocking we tend to “deaden” the ball more
-Easier on your legs

Cons: -less range in blocking
-Challenging to pop out of our stance on throw downs for younger kids (feeling stuck)

Working with Nixon we did some banded resist and assist blocking from side to side. It’s essentially strength training for blocking and helping us get range.

Blocking with RKD is usually easier for most going to their right, we just have to keep our weight stacked on our left and push to the right while keeping our knee extended.

In this video we talk about going to our left with RKD, this is usually a bit more difficult for most. In the video you can hear me say that I like to be on my heel to help roll that knee over to help us get some range to our left. Staying on our heel also helps us roll into a throw down.

Shoot me a message and let’s get you in for a lesson🤙🏽 by @tyjo_trainz

BLOCKING: Let’s start with saying catchers are a different breed. Carter came to me wanting to work on blocking. As a young kid, blocking can be intimidating. It can leave a good bruise and sting a little sometimes but it’s crucial to be an elite catcher.

A coach once told me “keeping the ball in front of us with a runner on third is just as good as a solo HR”. Here’s a progression blocking drill I learned from a young age to help us get in the right spots, keeping our chin tucked, glove down, body wide and really emphasizing the exhale to “deaden” the baseball.

It’s important to show them that it only stings for a second. Carter gets after it, he listens well and comes ready to work. I’m excited to see the progress we will continue to make.

Message me, let’s get after it. I have a few spots available later this week. Had to make him laugh a little at the end! by @tyjo_trainz

Mason came to me saying he wants to work on throw downs. Here we start working a drill to get a good transition at the center of our chest. On the very first rep you can hear him say “I was so early”. This is a good thing! It allows us to see how much time we truly have. We will NEVER be quicker than the baseball. We need to let it travel to us. A clean transfer sets us up to transition into a synched up consistent throw, leading to extra outs. Mason is an absolute stud and it’s been a pleasure to work with him and watch him grow! DM me schedule a lesson, let’s elevate your game. by @tyjo_trainz

Hey everybody, I’m back doing catching and hitting lessons. I’ve been playing baseball for 18 years and have been doing lessons off and on for the last 3-4 years. I’ve learned a lot in that time and would love to help elevate your son’s game! DM me with any questions and let’s get to work! by @tyjo_trainz
