as everyone is aware by this point, i have been selected to compete for the title of Miss New York USA on July 25th and July 26th. I will be representing the 845, more specifically orange county. as excited as i am, unfortunately i am unable to afford all costs on my own due to other life expenses such as rent, and bills. i’m going to be 100% transparent, this competition is costly. i realize that this is very minor to a lot of you, and ultimately a third world problem; for me this is a dream of mine and i would be crazy to not take this opportunity. this is something i have always wanted, and to be able to represent the community that i grew up in, that helped to raise and shape me into the woman i have become is such a privilege. if anyone could find it in their heart to donate, or share this i would be so deeply honored and appreciative. all donations would go directly to covering my required sponsorship fee. i realize with our economy currently, money is very hard to come by and keep. if you are unable to donate, i completely understand. i appreciate you all for your support and encouragement as i go along on this journey. thank you for reading and your consideration. the link is attached in my stories and bio. by @tyleedior

i didn’t win. but that’s okay, i am secure in the woman that i am and who i’ve worked so hard to become. i was never a pageant girl, but i am someone who has a story to share.

i have experienced a lot of adversity in my life, but i never allowed it to dictate my future. instead, i turned my pain into purpose while remaining humble and resilient, regardless of the circumstances and the outcome. although i didn’t take the crown, this opportunity, the sisterhood i joined, and the experience i had meant so much more to me than winning. am i a little disappointed? absolutely. is my ego bruised? yes. but this “loss” does not define me, or my beauty. i believe that you have to get knocked down a couple of pegs in order to realize that the comeback is greater than the setback.

beauty is subjective, and ultimately in the eye of the beholder. going into this, i didn’t know what to expect. i didn’t feel like i belonged there, i saw so many seasoned women who already had the whole package; the experience, the training, the poise, and most importantly the confidence. but being around these same women who i initially found intimidating proved to be so encouraging, reassuring and supportive. they helped me feel like i could do this, so i took a leap of faith and i did. i’ll forever appreciate that.

thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey, i cannot thank you all enough; there are no words to describe the outpour of love i’ve received, and the gratitude that i have.

to the women who i have gotten to know, thank you for allowing me to feel seen. to my family, thank you for celebrating me.

to have the privilege to be able represent who i am, and where i come from on that stage was a win in itself, and for that i am eternally grateful. it’s not over for me, i will be back. i know what i bring to the table, and i believe that what is real will prosper. i am made for so much more. someday, the world will know my name. my time is coming and this is just the beginning. if there’s one thing that i carry with me, it is that there can be no testimony without a test. for now, i am your unofficial MISS ORANGE COUNTY. thank you, MISS NEW YORK! until we meet again. taken in Hilton Parsippany by @tyleedior
