CUSTOM STEELERS PANTS FOR BESTIE’S BDAY ‘LERS GAME IN ✨PARIS!✨#stadedefrance🇫🇷 Swipe to see the process 👉🏻 original sketches, including (1) inventory of shirts w/ measurements, (2) design concept with front appliqués and back pockets, and (3) and jean measurements with added godet snd pockets. godet pattern (hand made and measured!) overlaying pants with scissors godet pattern piece pinned to left leg to gauge measurements TERRIBLE TOWEL GODET 🔥 terrible towel godet sewn into leg— this is when i started feeling like “oh my god, this might just work out!” second godet for other leg— needed to add interfacing to this side to better match godet weights/drapes cosplaying 50s housewife (poorly) top stitching the second godet area time to cut some HYPOCYCLOIDS!! (iykyk) the entire appliqué collection, in a sups aesthetic arrangement if i do say so myself when’s the last time you sewn some ass? 🍑 i stared at these pockets for so long, and i LOVE how they turned out word to the wise: this plasticy fabric on the jerseys is a BITCH go sew through… but it looks so good. it’s about DETAILS, LOVE! REDOING BELT LOOPS OVER HERE! finished closeup 1 finished closeup 2 finished closeup 3 i’m SO PROUD of myself for accomplishing this, reconnecting to sewing (giving my machine some big kisses!), and making my bestie yet another steelers item! and now one of my creations has made it to PARIS!! YOU’RE KIDDING!! next up: some knitting magic 👀 by @tyler.artsy
‼️SNEAK PEAK‼️ this scarf isn’t fully finished, but i learned how to knit a cable pattern! and i LOVE how it’s coming about. need to hand sew a lining to the inside (🤮) and then it’ll be show worthy 🤩 by @tyler.artsy
knitted my first scarf 🧶🧣🥰 enjoy the photoshoot i had as if i were running an online store (foreshadow?? who’s to say) by @tyler.artsy
was sad, made a crochet succulent for my desk, joy partially restored! (and y’already know the color scheme!) by @tyler.artsy
CROCHET PUMPKIN DOOR CHIMES FOR MY PUMPKIN 🎃♥️ gentle reminder that you are incredible and can create literal magic with your finger tips; here’s how i did it: 1. finished project (i’m in LOVE) 2. starting the magic ring 3. ring is ringing 4. disk is disking 5. kept adding increases to give the shape volume; reversed with decreases to finalize the blobby ball-like shape 6. said blobby ball-like shape, pre-stuffing 7. blobby balls and on with added strands to create pumpkin ridges 8. close-up of pumpkin with ridges 9. cute lil leaves (also via magic circle, with sc, hdc, dc, tc for oblong, pointy leaf shape) 10. have you ever SEEN A MORE ADORABLE PHOTOGRAPH!! 11. finished “vine,” sewing the pumpkins and separate leaves (similar but somewhat different from the leaves attached to the pumpkins) to the vine 12. close-up up on my pumpkin chimes 🥰 (not pictured: my lovebug putting these on his office door because that’ll happen monday and i simply couldn’t wait to share) by @tyler.artsy
taught myself how to knit (and purl!) yesterday/today. fabric art is really proving to be equal parts rewarding, stimulating, challenging, and meditative. through it all, i can always make. i am a creator solely by being here. these needles and hooks and balls of string have really given me a new sense of power. thanks, yarn! by @tyler.artsy
redesigning a ‘lers sweatshirt for the one and only @ericka_gabrielle 🥰 here’s the story: 1. the finished garment (🤩) 2. the original garment, with chalk lines denoting what was to come (not pictured, two pages of notes) 3. me hoping a blanket stitch would be my saving grace, without knowing how to do a blanket stitch or, frankly, what it was 4. gagged that the blanket stitch DID work, and can now crochet directly attached to the garment (via blanket stitch) 5. finished neckline 🤩 (¡qué viva!) 6. repeat blanket stitch for hemline, but this time we’re adding multiple stitches/blanket stitch (base layer is a 1:1 ratio) to create a flowy effect 7. the base layer, 1:1 ratio 8. i KNOW you see that red starting to balloon out because she’s crowded 🤩 9. me, tylerd, but feeling successful after finishing the hemline! 10. you g’head and try to figure out what those notes mean 11. the result of the aforementioned notes, with similar flowy-sexiness as the hemline 12. matching hemline and cuff 🥰 this project showed me that i am, what? A ROCKSTAR. so thankful to ericka for trusting me to revamp her coveted steeler’s merch 🥹♥️ by @tyler.artsy
what do you do when you measure incorrectly? you call it a DESIGN 👏🏻 CHOICE 👏🏻! had fun making this beanie for @nikkaayyy03 in just over 48 hours as a lil first-time-visiting-the-big-girl-house gift (and some just-bought-cheap-clearance-yarn inspiration!) by @tyler.artsy
MORE CROCHET!! this weekend, i made a crochet heart-shaped wreath for valentine’s day, as a gift to my valentine. surprisingly easy to make, i love how it turned out! acrylic yarn, aluminum (i think?) wire 📸1: finished work, on my love’s office door 📸2: me, crocheting, sped up 📸3: two hearts, sewn together 📸4: bottom half, sewn together 📸5: making the ornamental top (the top-most heart is forward, instead of behind 📸6: sewed everything except the ornamental top 📸7: time to trim the tails! 📸8: tails, trimmed 📸9: video of finished fabric wreath, with braided handle. NOT PICTURED: sewing along the back to ensure the wreath keeps its circular shape by @tyler.artsy
in teaching myself how to crochet, i knew i needed a project i ACTUALLY wanted to make, instead of an “easy/intro” project. ambitious? perhaps. but i think i did pretty alright! i can’t wait to make more things with this soothing yet mentally stimulating art form. here’s to soft resistance, mental wellbeing, and some cool, wearable art! 📸 1: crochet jacket 2: yarn i bought 3: test granny square (first one ever!) 4: test granny square, switching yarn colors 5: me, crocheting my umpteenth granny square, circa 3 AM 6: my finished collection of full granny squares (halves and triangles still to come) 7: granny pieces, including halves and triangles 8: layout of sections, before they were sewn together 9: finished R side of bodice, piecing for L side 10: all sections sewn, piecing together pieces by @tyler.artsy
taught myself how to crochet about a week ago, and have instantly fallen in love. in addition to wearables, i’m hoping to use this medium to create more sculptural pieces— for now, here’s a lil somethin i made to try out a new stitch. acrylic yarn, metal chain, wire, beads. by @tyler.artsy
“boys will be boys” (2018) wooden drawing figure, paper with submissions, glue given recent events, i’m reminded of this piece i made in high school, featuring REAL stories from women in my community at the time. take a keen look at what those women said in 2018, and think of how little has changed. they deserve better than this. teach your boys that “being boys” does not mean belittling, abusing, or manipulating others. thank you to all these anonymous women for your vulnerability. by @tyler.artsy
