52 Saturdays have passed since we were married under papa & grandmas maple tree. That Saturday we got all dressed up, we cried and we held each other, we shared our vows & heard wonderful words from our loved ones & cried again. We celebrated with our dearest family & friends - signed our marriage license and cut the cake. We danced to slow songs and cried a little more. The DJ turned the evening into a party and we danced & danced & danced & ate Taco Bell burritos at 12am. & suddenly the day we’d waited for passed too quickly as everyone always says. Every Saturday since we’ve woken up as husband & wife; we’ve sat on the porch & decorated for holidays. We’ve spent dinners with our families & sat by bon fires, we’ve fished & jumped off the boat. We’ve walked the streets of Florence & explored the Vatican City. We’ve cried again & found joy more. We’ve continued to build a life together & that’s what it is all about — I am so grateful for this marriage & I am so grateful for you. I cannot believe a year ago we were preparing for our wedding day; without even realizing it, the leaves have changed again. I have so many photos that perfectly document our day from my beloved @rachelnoelphoto & our entire week as we prepared my papas house for the wedding we had always dreamed of. Finally sharing all of our detail photos - so much love & intention went into all of these. We wanted to keep our day simple, true to us, mostly decorated by the memories of my grandparents home & the change of the season.

Furniture that belonged to great grandparents & thrifted over two years covered by my grandmas tablecloths, adorned by photos taking up every inch of the space. Our guest book was an early 2000s coffee table book on “how to have the perfect at home wedding.” My papas wife - decorated their entry table with photos of me that she carefully sifted through & found in boxes my grandma had kept in the extra bedroom. My bouquet was designed by @studiowildefloral after my grandma Diane’s wedding bouquet from 1965; it was wrapped in lace from my grandmas town’s wedding gown, completed with a blue brooch from my great grandma. Tyler wore his late grandpas watch while I wore my mom’s blusher as my veil. We were wed beside a memory tree of photos of our loved one’s passed and we served our cake on Tyler’s grandparents wedding cake plate that his grandma gracefully gifted us months before. My mom thrifted our cake topper which we later realized was identical to my grandparents cake topper. Decorating this table was so important to me - the cake cutting photos of my parents & our grandparents sat beside my parents engraved cake knife from 1989 as well as a new engraved cake knife of ours that we can pass on to our kids someday.

@beneath.the.tree brought our vintage welcome sign at the end of our aisle to life. We were so blessed with our wonderful friend @nickidion1 who perfectly coordinated and executed our vision as all of our ideas were packed in plastic tubs and just a dream - her surprise tattoo station during our reception was a perfect representation of us.

October in our home 🍁 Tyler & I have always wanted to make seasons and holidays in our home feel like they did when we were small. These days are full of nostalgia & when you walk in our door we want each room to remind you of the magic these holidays have always held. Mismatched blankets, thrifted & gifted mugs & trinkets. Knick knacks on every shelf & color in every corner. Crockpots full of soup & candles warming the chilly evenings. Old movies and TV shows filling the quiet. For a little while holidays didn’t quite feel the same unless we were at our parents houses & we soon learned it was because they created the memories we cherish so much, so we will always fill our home like this so we can pass the magic on. 🍁✨ taken in Michigan by @tyler.hether

Anyone who knows me, knows I love American Traditional tattoos. I’ve had such a hard time finding artists in the US that I like, since I instantly fell in love with @samuelebriganti style when I stumbled across his page almost 10 years ago.

When we decided we were going to Italy for our “official” honeymoon, I reached out to see if I could get on his books. Unfortunately, he didn’t have any open dates but did accept walk-ins, so I could stop by the shop and see if he had any availability after a client.

Well last Monday, we did just that.

I finally saw the shop with my own eyes and met Samuele face to face.

I asked if he had time for a walk-in and he informed me that he was booked out for the rest of the year and unfortunately Monday was his day off to get a jump start on his designs for the week. He took down my number and told me he would call me if anyone canceled their appointment.

For one last ditch effort I told him I had a design in mind but wasn’t married to it, I’d get just about anything he had time for, but that it was no pressure and an honor to even see the shop and get to shake his hand.
I think he could sense the admiration I had for his work and the desperation of being so close and falling just short. He decided to give me a tour of the shop and out of the blue said, “Well… eh… maybe you come back later tonight? Say in 2 hours and we can figure something out?”.

HOLY. SHIT.

My heart started racing, Natalie cried for me and we anxiously awaited the next few hours.

When we came back to the shop around 5pm, he printed off a stencil, placed it on a few spots until it felt perfect and then started the tattoo.

During the entire process he was nothing but kind, genuine and humble. I expressed my gratitude numerous times and was awestruck at the final result.

Before I left, he presented me with a signed design of his, took a picture with me and gave me a big ol’ hug.

Samuele, I cannot thank you enough for taking the time on your day off to make my tattoo dream come true. You made our trip perfect and I am forever grateful for your kindness and impeccable skill.
