It’s funny how life works sometimes. The very thing I actually never aspired to be in this industry is what brought me to where I am today. I guess directing is something I need to embrace from now on.

This is surreal. Life is crazy. But I am bursting with gratitude.

A closer look into the Character Breakdown:

Sofia (30), an Asian-American screenwriter from San Francisco. She’s a force to be reckoned with, passionate, fearless, and unapologetically ambitious. Having built a name for herself in the competitive world of entertainment in Los Angeles, she is relentless in her pursuit of success and self-growth. However, she puts everything on hold when she uproots her life to a rural small town for the sake of her long-term partner, Elliot.

She’s a Type-A powerhouse who thrives on structure, ambition, and achievement. But over the years, she begins to realize that instead of evolving together as artists and partners, she and Elliot are on diverging paths, and his unresolved struggles weighing her down rather than propelling them forward. As doubt seeps in, she is forced to reevaluate not only her career trajectory but also the very foundation of her relationship, questioning whether it’s worth holding onto or if it’s time to let go.

Elliot (33), a Caucasian aspiring screenwriter, grew up in a small town with little exposure to the world beyond its borders. His first real taste of diversity and culture came when he took a leap of faith and moved to Los Angeles for film school, eager to break into the industry. Though kind-hearted and well-intentioned, his sheltered upbringing sometimes manifests as ignorance and a lack of self-awareness.

Crippled by his chaotic childhood, Elliot struggles with emotional avoidance, self-doubt, and a paralyzing fear of failure. His relationship with Sofia introduces him to new perspectives and pushes him outside his comfort zone, but instead of rising to the challenge, he often retreats into old patterns. Despite glimpses of potential, his unresolved trauma continues to hold him back, leaving Sofia to wonder whether love is enough or if she’s simply waiting for someone who may never fully show up.
