Yesterday we all got together for the first ever Art in the Park gathering in Woodward!

I was initially inspired to make this happen a couple months ago while journaling. I was reflecting on how disconnected I felt from everyone through the interjection of phones and apps like the one you’re seeing this post on. That insidious imposition on our subtle moments of reprieve paired with the demands of late-stage capitalism and lack of third spaces makes community all the more scarce and inaccessible.
This is my offering to us all.
I decided to use the accessibility of our beautiful Woodward Park and simply set a date/time that I would show up, using my platform on this app to welcome anyone and everyone to join me with their choice of art supplies and no phones in sight. My heart is full after seeing how many people came out and hearing their appreciation of such an opportunity.
Art and friends were made. Sweet baby sun rays were soaked in. Birds were listened to. Squirrels were watched. Breeze was felt.
Thank you to everyone who came out. Weather dependent, I intend on this happening every second Thursday of the month. See you next time! ❤️

Here’s some insight into this piece “Internal Conflict” that I painted back in 2023. On the backside of the canvas reads this poem:

“Internal Conflict”
—
Duality
between two truths
that truly exist
as One

Torn apart
blamed as opposite
self-induced disconnection
perpetuates
the blinding
internal conflict

Central Valley creative human beings! (every human is creative) This is my offering to you all.

When?
• Thursday, October 8th
4pm - Sunset

Where?
• in Woodward Park atop a grassy hill shown in the map I drew - from free parking to the spot where we will be

Why?
• My friends and I all seem to desire simple quality time outside with each other and without distractions. I see that it takes someone facilitating that quality time so Ive decided to use the resource of Woodward park as a space and commit an evening to being there, offering the opportunity to anyone and everyone to join me.

How?
• Show up by yourself or with others and bring anything you desire to tinker with. This could be a sketchbook, crochet project, yoga mat, film camera, watercolor set, or anything else your heart desires!

My only request of all of you is to share in the commitment to NO PHONES. Take this opportunity as permission to set aside distractions and be with the rhythm of life as we softly watch the sky, feel the gentle breeze and take up space amidst tender blades of grass that so patiently witness your creative expression.

DM me with any questions. Im looking forward to seeing you all there! :) by @tylerjsmith.art

I made this ceramic sculpture to illustrate the oh-so volatile and chaotic cycle of superficial desire and attachment.

I created it while in a beginning ceramics course that I took amidst my welding curriculum at Fresno City College. Our assignment was to create a “cookie jar” and I spent more hours in open studio than the class itself to finish this piece. It was all coil built and hand sculpted from the inside out. Painted with underglaze.

Thank you for looking ❤️‍🔥

Here’s a look into the process behind the motorcycle helmet I hand painted for the @glorydazepgh “Trippy Ten” art show! The whole process was a practice of getting out of the way, allowing the piece itself to challenge my familiar process and expectations of what art I create. Im incredibly stoked with how it all came together.

Thank you again @kurtdiserio for the invitation to create and be showcased alongside an incredible lineup of artists. Thank you @torchelmets for providing us artists with a great canvas.

This piece was painted with an automotive base coat, satin 2k clear finish and One Shot enamel paints.

This is my first silversmithing project !
My younger brother’s wisdom tooth, an opal (his birthstone) and sterling silver.

Im stoked to be learning this new medium. I’ve learned so much through the past month of many mistakes and challenges presented by an unconventional first project.

There’s something so special to me about wearable art and especially something that involves such few ingredients while having the potential to remain intact for centuries. I consider this an artifact crafted out of love for my brother and all Ive learned from him. Im honored to carry some of his ‘wisdom’ with me.

Thank you @lunastone.silver for all your help, encouragement and support behind seeing this to fruition.
Thank you all for looking ❤️‍🔥

I hand painted this motorcycle helmet as one of the invited artists for the @glorydazepgh “Trippy Ten” art showcase in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Im honored to have been chosen to join and be showcased alongside an incredible lineup of artists. Thank you @kurtdiserio for the opportunity and thank you @torchelmets for providing the canvas.
Another big ups and thanks to the homie Julian @revival_auto_restoration for always lending his equipment and expertise to spray some automotive paint.

This piece is a point of reference for yet another season of change in my creative approach to artwork and life. Consider it a space helmet painted to complement the journey of catapulting through space and time, both physically and existentially. Thank you for looking ❤️‍🔥
