The Braves in June kinda looked like this 😒😑🤦‍♂️ See you at the folk rock show? 7/10 at @themoodymotel (low tix!) 7/23 at @dead_beat_athens with Hunter Blalock 7/26 at @avontheaterga with @thedeadbolts 8/23 at @portico_highshoals presented by @piedmontsound by @tylerkey_okay
“Misery” is out today on all the platforms. I played guitar’s and pedal steel, @kimsoblice did backing vocals, @ryandrummoore did drums, @duke_ag_ played bass and mixed the whole thing. This is a @piedmontsound joint as Spike Lee would say. @adequate_chad shot video and @thegerkinator edited the video. Here’s the VH1 Behind the Music of it all, the “why” behind the new tune “Misery.” I’ve got ideas for silly songs running through my head most days. Some are parodies, some are just wholly ridiculous, but this is just what excites the creative part of my brain. “Misery” started out like this. I was working on some guitar parts for a No Yonder song and wanted to write a country emo song like Brad, who came up with some absolute classic tracks on our last record. But I couldn’t leave those good intentions alone, so the song took the perspective of the worst person(s) I know: the YouTube comment section. Now I’ve had a few choice comments on videos. Most were encouraging! Folks helping folks and being sweet. Love that stuff. But anonymous negativity is a real thing y’all. I’ve seen good friends get into long knock-down-drag-outs in a comment section. And for WHAT?! Ain’t nobody reading that. It ain’t a text to be consumed, it’s usually reserved for petty bs, name calling, and whatever else you can get away with in 50 words or less. So the crux of the song became “but of course the comment section is miserable, and can’t fathom why it is.” It’s an island of misfit toys, but the toys weren’t made for anyone. But they have to sing you this whole song, and eventually BEG for just one friend to hang out with. Which is kinda sad. And so, after the rippin guitar solo, you’re conflicted. But you shouldn’t be conflicted about committing to the general strike today against ICE. These are the folks in the comment section with zero information telling you all sorts of misinformed things. Our elected officials have been blatantly lying to us and some folks just lap it up like good lil dawgs. Get out of the comment section and use your eyes and ears y’all. I hope ye read a book and we can have a good chat over a beer later. Thanks for listening and I love ye, T by @tylerkey_okay
Ear Bonez Sessions presents @tylerkey_okay with @cannonrogersmusic on pedal steel performing his original song “Silk Flowers” at Ear Bonez Studio just outside of Athens, GA. Tyler Key is a longtime stalwart of the Athens/Atlanta music scene, mostly as a pedal steel player for bands like The Howdies, T Hardy Morris, and Little Gold. In 2021, he released his most recent solo album—Wild Azaleas and Other Tall Tales—and plans to release his next solo venture this year. “Silk Flowers” is from that forthcoming record, accompanied here by Cannon Rogers on steel guitar. It’s been a minute since I’ve posted things! Had some absolutely life affirming shows this week, and I’m just proud to have a lil community of folks who give 200% all the time. Makes me try to do the same. Big thanks to @portico_highshoals and @matildasmusicunder_the_pines for having me out this weekend, and @piedmontsound for working like dawgs to do the thing we love best. Y’all take care now, bye bye by @tylerkey_okay

We finally got a response from our express written consent from Major League Baseball! They said we could only use footage of Bud Selig’s ghost (who can only eat Dippin Dots, no other corporeal food), so our video production team pivoted. We got the best actors hot dogs could lure, and they were surprisingly good at baseball. We won the pennant! Granted, the other teams were solely ghost runners, but they put up a hell of a fight. The following is a cinema verité account of our pennant run and is totally one hundred percent fact. No space age ice cream orbs were harmed in the making of this film. Tyler Key was the perfect acoustic act to kick off the June Roadhand Roundup. He led with a song about murder, and you can’t really ask for anything more than that. #roadhandroundup #originalcountrymusic #atlantamusicscene by @tylerkey_okay
First Roadhand Roundup was one for the books! 🤠 Thank you to everyone that came out, to @529_eav for hosting us, and to the bands for keeping us in good music on a Wednesday night. Looking forward to doing it again on July 15th! #roadhandroundup #originalcountrymusic #eastatlantavillage #countrymusicatl #atlantamusicscene by @tylerkey_okay
