Thankful.
First time dancing at a powwow since my regalia was stolen last year.
Many expressions of gratitude and blessings to everyone who had a hand or thought in this process.

When I started Homeland, I don’t think I could’ve imagined where some of these ideas would take us this quickly. So much of what we make comes from things that feel really personal to me, home, family, our homies, where we come from, the things we grew up seeing, and the things that sometimes make us question what we’ve always been told.

To be able to bring all of that to Indigenous New York Fashion Week with “HOME,” and now have the collection and the ideas behind it shared by Teen Vogue, is a big blessing. Especially because this collection feels like one of the clearest versions of what I’ve always wanted Homeland to be.

I’m thankful for everybody who helped bring this collection to life. The team behind Homeland, @maryenndinae and @yek.world with styling/design, @kianatoadlena with hair/makeup direction, @jaronroanhorse with setting the tone sonically for the collection, and @neon_navajo and @jc_97ban for all the creative direction input. And everybody who has worn Homeland, shared it, supported it, showed up for us, or just believed in what we were building before moments like this ever happened. None of this exists without the people and relatives across the Americas and beyond who continue to support us.

Still learning, still creating, and still figuring out how far we can take this thing.

Thank you @teenvogue and @k.a.nelson for taking the time to listen to the story behind the clothes and giving the space to tell it in our own words. And much congratulations and thank you to @indigenousnyfw and @relativeartsnyc @aichnyc for creating a space for Indigenous creativity, storytelling, and excellence to shine. Congrats and blessings to everyone who had a fingerprint in all of this from the production team to hair/makeup and sound. 🪶🪶🪶

DINÉ FOREVER! Much love to my brotha @rgenick1 and @hatclub for including us in this project and allowing us to show the world how beautiful and how lucky we are to live this life and come from the place we come from.

From hearing KTNN every morning as a kid, running around the hills of Window Rock with my cousins, and being taught the importance of wearing turquoise and presenting ourselves in a respectful way when we do so, this is what it’s all about.

Seeing my brotha @jaredbrown92 and my family @callineagle_singers97 in front of the camera… nothing better than that.

This one was for us, as always. From our homelands to all our relations across Indigenous lands worldwide.

It’s a beautiful time to be Indigenous.

om*LOG SERIES: Homeland 🪶

“There’s nothing more grounding or fulfilling than being who I am, truly. And after that, I feel like that’s when intention and structure starts to formulate.” - @tylodgepole

We were honored to be hosted by the team at @homelandforever on sacred land to film this log episode. Homeland has always stood as more than a brand. They are the powerful voice of the people, the culture and their community.

When speaking with Ty and the team at Homeland, they shared insight into their creative process.

These intimate jams and traditional tribal dances are their gateway into connecting with the core of their work, and connecting with each-other.

“Without prayer, without culture, without our community here, and our homelands. All the projects and stuff would be for nothing”

This video was filmed on Salt River Pima-Maricopa Community land, home to the Akimel O’odham and the Xalychidom Piipaash tribes.

***

Thank you to the team at Homeland for sharing your culture, words and inspiration with us.

You can shop Homeland’s newest pieces and experience their newest installation at Com*MUNITY SERVICE on May 23 at Studio at Wilson. by @tylodgepole
