Returning to the Capitol as a page for the second time was just as meaningful as the first. As a senior, I know this chapter is coming to a close, but getting to debate ideas with students my age from different backgrounds and immerse myself in the world of policy only strengthened where I want to be in the future. Grateful for every conversation, every perspective, and every moment spent learning in the chamber. I guess the next time I’m back, it’ll have to be as an intern. 🇺🇸🏛️ by @tylor.aary

When I imagine more kids growing up the way I did, it makes me sad.

I grew up in a small town where diversity wasn’t something you saw. I never saw Black people being successful or celebrated, and because of that I didn’t always understand my own power. For a long time, I felt insecure about my features and my culture simply because it wasn’t represented around me.

I realized I may not be able to change the makeup of my town, but I can help change the mindset.

So I approached Mrs. Whitney with an idea. I told her I wanted to start going into elementary schools to read books and teach kids about different cultures. I asked her one simple question: How do I make this happen?
And she helped make it possible. Together we helped create my culture project: “Building Bridges”

Because of the sponsorship of Bright Futures, we were able to purchase cultural books and even colored Band-Aids so every child can see themselves represented in small but meaningful ways.

My friends believed in my vision and stepped in to help me bring it to life. Together we’re teaching kids about Black history, Native American culture, Pacific Islander culture, Asian American culture, and Mexican American culture, because every child deserves to see that their culture and history matters. by @tylor.aary

TEDXBTW
It takes a lot of courage to stand up for what you believe in. Presenting this speech taught me that not everyone is going to agree with what you say, and that's okay. by @tylor.aary

I went back to Indiana!!

I spent the week back in Indianapolis with my favorite organization, serving as an FFALive reporter for Pence Media and National FFA.

I’m beyond grateful for the people who continue to believe in me and invest in a young journalist with big dreams. A special shoutout to Lauren for taking me under her wing and immersing me in the world of journalism; Ashley and @jenibostrom for creating space for us to unlock our true potential; Kristy, Julie, Beth, and Tom for pushing me outside my comfort zone and showing me continuous support; and @nicolepence and the entire Pence Media team for making this opportunity possible.

ALSO the incredible FFALive interns!! You’ve truly shown me that genuine friendships can thrive in any career and that passionate journalists are everywhere. Inspired by you all!

Opportunities like this remind me why I started and why I’ll keep chasing this dream. Forever grateful for the people in my corner!!

House of Representatives Page Program '25

• I was given the opportunity to spend multiple days in the Capitol learning from representatives from all over the state. Each house member, LA, leader, and official taught me lessons that I can not wait to implement into my own future goals. To all my new friends, buy the ticket! by @tylor.aary
