Asking for a friend… should you reread a book that doesn’t come out until December because you miss Flo and Tom?

I fear I have a fever and the only cure is a friend’s to lovers romance with a dual timeline and multiple fraught interactions.

If you don’t know, I adore Katie and her brain and not only does she write men that YEARN but the dual timeline had me as the reader yearning for more!

I was not sure if I was going to keep this post series up. Not because I didn’t love the books but because it feels too basic? Too easy? Not enough creative juices flowing into it? But you know what… I love Emma and her band of men? Divine friendships? Outrageous hi-jinx? And not every post has to take all my creative supply to be worthy of my chaotic feed! There is something centering about this series that helps me recalibrate when booksta can sometimes feel like a job. So nevertheless, I prevail.

Do you have a series or book that you go back to when life feels overwhelming or you feel like you have lost the joy of reading?

You know when you are barely starting a book and you get that feeling that it’s going to be one of your top reads of the year? Yeah, that was me and Bad Words.

And I’ve been dealing with a book hangover ever since (Complimentary).

When someone mentions enemies to lovers in a contemporary novel in the future I’m going to point to this one as the blue print. And the way it grappled with online and offline relationships? FANTASTIC.

And the “meet-cute” being a confrontation at a party had me hooked and not wanting to put this one down.

Thank you to St Martins Press, MacMillian audio, and NetGalley for the eArc and Alc. I will be thinking of this book probably for the rest of the year.

Audio review:
Dual pov/dual narration
Bonus audio at the end of the book (duet)

Both Katharine Chin and Major Curda did an outstanding job on the audio. It truly felt like they brought the characters to life and differentiating between characters and thoughts was so well done. I would recommend this audio book whole-heartedly.

Book thoughts:
Debut where though??? This book feels like a love letter to authors, critics, reviewers and in the best way pulls no punches. The critique on the online spaces and not really knowing everything about authors and other writers was refreshing and necessary in a world of parasocial relationships.

Okay I have no other adequate words other than keep your eyes peeled for this one! OUT OCTOBER 6th!

Be silly, be serious, be weird, be YOU!

Social media is weird. And if I’m honest I have been second guessing all that I post recently. I love being in this space and connecting over books, cheering on authors, and then my algo showing me hotdogs, pickles, tomato, and goose content all in the same day.

But how does one work on just posting what they want to post without comparing to others?? Sometimes I find myself not posting something I worked hours on because “I can’t do it as good as xxx” but then I remember how each of us bring something different to the table. Our perspectives, our favorite quotes, etc are all ways that make us stand out.

So my encouragement to you (and myself) is just post it! You bring something different to this space that no one else can do quite like you!

EMMA M. LION VOL 3 quotes drop

Hello fellow readers, I am back with another EML quote drop because I have somehow curated my grid to have a quote every third day so I won’t be stopping now!

AND to be honest with you, I read volumes 1-5 so quickly that they all are mashed together in my head. So now the only way to differentiate what happens in each book is for me to go back and look at my highlights.

and reading update I have yet to finish volume 8 but I am about to finish the month of May and I’m planning on either savoring June or binging it in one sitting.

This came to me two nights ago at 5am and I needed to bring it to existence. I fear this series is becoming my personality like everyone else before me. MISS LION YOU HAVE A FAN IN ME!

Quarter 2 update like 2 months late? YES OKAY WE ARE IN THE CREATIVE TRENCHES 😘

Alternate title: the months I didn’t have ac (and then the ceiling fell in)

Little man is taking up all my free time when I’m not at work and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Read some bangers, some of them twice, and learned so many new words! (As always please don’t quiz me on them)

Currently I am reading arcs and obsessing over Emma M Lion so assume all of that will be in my next wrap up (like a year from now probably!)

EMMA M LION HAS TAKEN OVER ALL MY THOUGHTS.

I have decided I’m going to share at least one quote from each of these books that resonates with me for whatever reason that may be.

I just finished vol 5 on the way to work and I am hooked. These books are addictive and I’m so glad I have the audio that I can revisit over and over again! I feel like these books are ones that everyone will like- I MEAN HOW COULD YOU NOT! And they truly get better and better with each volume!!

I’m still trying to figure out what “team” I’m on but honestly enjoying it without caring too much about who Emma may or may not end up with. Honestly if I get to the end and Emma ends up with no one I will be satisfied cause I’m TEAM EMMA and I love her spunky spirit!

BOOK CLUB POST 👽

hello my fellow book peeps! My local book club does themed months and this next month was paranormal/monster romance so I volunteered to pick the options for this month!

And there is really only one rule we follow when picking books- it can’t be a book you have read it before.

And since I haven’t read them a bit of a disclaimer on the synopsis’s- I wrote these based on friend’s reviews, vibes, and the description on goodreads. All inaccuracies of the book are my own. (And some might argue that not all of these books fit the category and to them I say… 😈).

We picked Die for Me and I am so excited to crack open my @aardvarkbookclub hardback of it!

I was blessed by the publisher gods (see Berkley) to read this one early and, as one does, when me and Emily talked about how much we enjoyed this book thought about making a post that was all different pictures of David Corenswet in Twisters for our post. That idea slowly morphed into this edit instead!

Reading feels nonexistent in my house right now BUT I started and finished the first Emma M. Lion this week thanks to @librofm and this quote stuck out on audio that I had to go look it up in the ebook.

Excited for more and maybe I will just start Vol 2 today!
