Last stop on our incredible summer trip: Amsterdam! It was a chill couple of days of mostly strolling and eating/drinking. It’s such a gorgeous city. And our 17th century hotel was stunning (fourth pic). So sad to go home but what a great vacation. Thank you, @maestrohuff, for planning everything!! More than one person asked, “Why are you going *there*?” We went to this little barrier island in the North Sea because there is nothing to do but bike and beach and be. We took a ferry and then a little train (first pic) to this carless island relaxed and stayed cool while much of Europe experienced a terrible heat wave. Frankly, I’d go back in winter when there are only 1,300 full time residents (and two cops! 👮 👮‍♀️). 🇩🇪 taken in Langeoog by @typingtaylor

After Berlin we set out on our journey to relax. 🧖🏻‍♀️ Silas has been wanting to visit Grandhotel Pupp in Karlovy Vary, Czechia, since he saw the @queenlatifah movie “Last Holiday.” An incredible, glamorous spa hotel from 1701 has hosted everyone from Bach, Beethoven, Dvorak, and Queen L. Casino Royale was filmed here. What to do besides explore the small city whose buildings look like Victorian cakes? Spa. Drink coffee. Nap. Eat.

Thank goodness Silas saw that movie all those years ago. (The accompanying music is not by Beethoven but felt fitting. 🤓) by @typingtaylor

Had an incredible morning at the Jewish Museum, which shares 1,700 years of Jewish history and (within German) culture in a stunning building that is all sharp lines and no right angles. Lots of beautiful art, history, and connections to today.

Shalekhet (” Fallen Leaves”), one of the three “void” spaces, was definitely the highlight. It features 10,000 iron, terrified faces on the ground. In the first video you can hear how peaceful and reflective the space feels. I went back when I learned that walking on them is part of the experience: the loud clanging echoed off the chamber walls, and I felt terrible walking on the horrified faces taken in Jüdisches Museum Berlin | Jewish Museum Berlin by @typingtaylor
