V Kolektivu Typofel se scházíme od roku 2024 a společně děláme písmové workshopy, konzultujeme, felíme, zkoumáme, hledáme a využíváme opensource nástroje, hrajeme si a experimentujeme s písmem. Teď poprvé vypouštíme první várku našich písem volně ke stažení!

Though @typofel’s exhibition [?@5] is supposed to officially end by the end of today, we’re here to announce that, unofficially-officially, we’re keeping it up until April 11th. We just can’t seem to part ways with it just yet! 🥺

Scans of the physical outputs from our [T]-workshop with @typofel. 🖤 These are currently being turned into a functional typeface by the members of Typofel, and we can’t wait for all our workshop participants to receive it! 👀

Last week, we hosted our very first [T]-workshop together with @typofel, and thanks to everyone who participated, we can safely say it was a success! We hope everyone who came had at least as much fun as we did (and we had a lot of fun). Thank you! 🖤☺️

The workshop was an accompanying event to Typofel’s exhibition [?@5], which is currently on view until April 4th at @typospot_. During the workshop, we collaboratively drew individual characters into grids composed of several sections. Just like the exhibition itself, the concept was based on the Exquisite Corpse principle, so we never knew what the person before us had drawn.

Typofel is now working hard on digitizing the resulting alphabet and turning it into a functional font that each workshop participant will receive and we can’t waittttt!✨

This workshop wouldn’t have been possible without the support of @staromestske_centra_kultury, thanks to which we had the space to host it. And for anyone who missed the registration this time (or just wants to join another one), we’ll definitely be hosting more workshops in the future, so stay tuned. Yay! 🤍🤍

Thank you, everyone! 🤍✨

Yesterday felt unreal! We had the biggest pleasure of opening the second year of [TypospoT] with the special exhibition [?@5] by @typofel. Despite the cold and snowy weather, we were so excited (and honestly surprised) to see so many of you at the vernissage!

And even though the day was very grey, Typofel’s colorful posters and friendly personalities made everything feel much brighter. This is by far our most colorful installation yet. From afar, the installation forms three characters: ?, @, 5.

When you step closer, you’ll discover that each character is made up of multiple rows, with each member of Typofel taking turns filling them in. Using the online tool glyphdrawing.club, they were inspired by the principle of the Exquisite Corpse game. Each person only saw the contribution made directly before them, trusting that the final composition would come together without having full control over the whole.

If you step even closer, you’ll notice that after finishing their part (and before passing it on), everyone marked the date, place, time, and signed their name. If you missed the vernissage, don’t worry! You still have plenty of time to come and read everything in person. We promise, it’s worth it! The exhibition will be up until April 4th. 🖤

We also had a very fun workshop yesterday (photos coming soon)! In the meantime, enjoy these photos from the opening by @design.paulen, @peter_poznik, @nikkistanke and @erikapartilova.

If you’ve been wondering what happened to our open call for our special early-spring exhibition, wonder no further, because we are more than pleased to announce that we’ll be hosting the collective @typofel, originally from the Czech Republic.

Their manifesto promotes a collective desire to play, create, and to simply “be fellas” together. This is currently somewhat challenging, as all members are living in different places.

[?@5] is based on the principle of the Exquisite Corpse game: everyone at a different time, in a different place, but together. The members share an artboard, but each person sees only what the previous member created before them. After finishing their part, and before sending it to the next member, they mark the date, place, time, and sign their name. And if one fails, the whole thing fails. The main idea of the exhibition is to show that it is truly possible to collaborate long-distance.

Typofel is a “horizontal type collective” focusing on type design, workshops, and just simply “being fellas”, formed by the members @honzak0marek, @alicebransten, @tvarejakoslabikare, @_jakub.jpeg and @erikapartilova. They are planning to launch their own open-source type foundry. They are currently based in Prague, Ústí nad Labem, Antwerp, Leipzig, and Halle.
And though they are operating long-distance at the moment, we are happy to announce that you’ll be able to meet all of them in person on the day of the vernissage! So don’t forget to bring your warm coats, and we’ll see you on the 19th of February!

Aaand perhaps you’ll even have the chance to meet them twice in one day, with the first time being in a much warmer setting, during a workshop! But more on that later. Yay!!! 🤍
