* The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a critical police incident-officer involved shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in East Fort Worth.

On May 16, 2026, at approximately 4:15 a.m., FWPD East Division officers were on scene working a previous officer involved shooting near the 4200 block of Wiman Drive. While still investigating the shooting, a white SUV drove by multiple times at a high rate of speed. It appeared the driver was attempting to hit officers standing near their vehicles.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver failed to stop. Officers pursued the SUV for approximately 15 minutes and eventually stopped the vehicle with a tactical vehicle intervention, also known as a PIT maneuver.

Officers then approached the vehicle with their guns drawn and gave multiple verbal commands. The adult male subject did not comply with the officers’ orders and grabbed an officer’s handgun. At that point, multiple officers fired their guns and struck the suspect.

Medical aid was provided by officers until the Fort Worth Fire Department arrived on scene. The male was pronounced deceased on scene.

A Fort Worth Police Officer was injured during this incident and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. It is unknown at this point how the officer was injured. The officer is listed in good condition.

Detectives from the Major Case unit were called to the scene and are continuing the investigation.

Monday, December 29, 2025, at 2:13 p.m., East Division officers were working on a unrelated disturbance call when they heard shots coming from the 1500 block of Liberty St.

Upon arrival, officers located a victim on the ground with gunshot wounds, the victim was pronounced deceased. While investigating that call another shooting call came in.

At approximately 2:18 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 1700 Block of Handley Dr. on a shooting call.

Upon arrival, officers located a parked vehicle occupied with one victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased shortly after.

The investigation revealed that another occupant from the vehicle fled on foot, he was later located in a residence nearby.

Detectives found that a group of 15-20 individuals had met at the city park located at 1500 Liberty St. and began to have words with each other. A physical altercation started and unknown suspect began shooting a handgun at the victims.

At this time, evidence suggests the shootings are related, and there are no known threats to the community. Homicide Detectives are interviewing all possible witnesses and following leads to identify and apprehend the suspect.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death and confirm the identity of the victims. by @tyrone_diamondstone
