Could not have asked for a better angel on earth and now in heaven. ❤️

A month ago, on our mom’s 62nd birthday, our world changed forever. Our mom, Amy Jo Brown, passed away suddenly from a brain aneurysm.

What should have been a day of celebration became the day our dad lost the love of his life, we lost the most incredible mother we could have asked for, her grandkids lost a grandma they adored, and so many others lost someone whose kindness had touched their lives.

Our parents spent decades opening their hearts and home to children. Together, they raised 12 of us, two biological and ten adopted, while roughly 420 foster children came through our home over the years, many during times of crisis or transition.

What they gave us went far beyond a roof over our heads. They filled our childhoods with experiences and possibilities, from family vacations, sports, dance, and music to time in nature and a love for animals. More importantly, they taught us that where we came from did not have to determine where we were going. They believed in us and taught us to believe in ourselves.

When our mom became a grandmother, we watched her pour that same devotion into her grandkids, nurturing their interests, encouraging their dreams, and making sure they knew just how loved and capable they were.

Now, our dad is navigating life without his wife and lifelong partner while also facing financial uncertainty. Shortly before our mom’s passing, he underwent surgery that kept him out of work for several months, and he was still getting back on his feet when we lost her.

As a family, we’ve created a GoFundMe to help with our mom’s cremation, memorial, and Celebration of Life, while giving our dad some breathing room with the mortgage and household expenses they once shared as he adjusts to this new chapter.
