I’ve been thinking about posting this for a while.

I’ve officiated basketball for over 15 years, and I also have the opportunity to help with radio broadcasts for high school sports. I’ve been on both sides of it. I’ve questioned calls from the broadcast booth, and I’ve been the guy on the floor making the call everyone disagrees with.

Here’s what I can tell you.

In all my years around high school sports, I have never met an official who showed up wanting one team to win or looking to cheat kids out of a game.

Do officials miss calls? Absolutely. I’ve missed them. Every official has.

I’m not sure how we got here this fast, but somehow you’re officially an adult! So I’m going to need you to sign a rental agreement, and pay your share of the bills 😁🫶🏻

I’m so proud of the young woman you’ve become. Watching you grow up through all the softball games, school activities, laughs, and memories has been one of the best parts of being your dad.

You have so much ahead of you, and I can’t wait to see where life takes you.

Just remember, turning 18 makes you an adult, but you’re still our kid. 😂

Gotta love teenagers. It’s been a year since I taught their class and they still think calling me “Brother Walrus” is some kind of new insult. Pretty sure I’ve been called that since before they were born, but I let them have their moment. Not sure if they miss the candy or my lessons. Probably the candy to be honest, but glad I made a small impact on their lives, and who knows maybe I’ll be their teacher when we swap classes again. by @tysonwallis24

Happy 10th Birthday to my favorite 10 year old. ❤️

Lexi, being your dad is one of the greatest blessings of my life. You are kind, loving, funny, and always thinking about everyone else. I’m so proud of the way you’ve been working hard in both softball and basketball, but I’m even more proud of the person you’re becoming.

You’ll always be my little girl, no matter how big you get. I love being your dad and can’t wait to see what this next year brings.
