6️⃣ years. 6️⃣ seasons. It’s truly incredible how much impact one person can have, and today, we’re taking a moment to shine a light on our very own @tythornton3. We’ve heard the news and we are excited for Coach Ty. Here is his message to Bison Nation.

For the past 6️⃣ years, Coach Thornton has poured his heart and soul into Howard University Men’s Basketball. As an Assistant Coach and Director of Player Development, he’s been so much more than a title. He’s been a mentor, a confidant, and a tireless advocate for our student-athletes, helping them grow not just as players, but as young men.

Alongside Coach Blakeney, he’s been instrumental in those back-to-back MEAC Tournament Championships and those thrilling runs in the NCAA Tournament. Those moments? They’re etched in our memories, and they wouldn’t have been possible without Coach Thornton’s strategic mind and dedication.

But beyond the banners and the highlights, it’s the personal connections, the late nights in the gym, the early mornings on the road, and every single lesson he shared that truly define his legacy here. He helped build a culture of brotherhood and excellence that will resonate with every Bison who walked through those doors during his tenure.

Thank you, Coach Thornton, for every single moment. For your passion, your belief, and for helping us reach new heights. You’ve left a mark on Howard University, and we’re so incredibly grateful for these past six years.

Wishing you nothing but the absolute best in your next chapter! Once a Bison, always a Bison. 🦬💙❤️

Tyler Thornton - Stacking Days Out Now

What an episode! We had an amazing time sitting down with our fellow Gonzaga alum to discuss his career. Although Ty is young, he displays wisdom beyond his years. We can see Ty becoming a head coach in the future as his ability to communicate and leadership skills were on full display.

We spoke on his early days with Gonzaga, and DC Assault to what he learned playing with Coach K at Duke. His journey going back and forth with overseas to ultimately starting his career as a coach.
