Dear Football,
From the moment I picked you up before my 7th-grade year, I fell in love. Nothing could ever pull me away. You didn’t just give me a game — you gave me purpose. You saved me and completely changed my life.
For over 15 years, I’ve lived for every snap, every grind, every moment. You took me places I never imagined I’d reach. My name has entered rooms I’ve never even walked into.
I played this game with everything I had — through countless injuries: dislocated fingers, torn labrums, a torn rotator cuff, a torn bicep, busted shoulders, rolled ankles, bone bruises — the list goes on. But quitting was never an option. I always told myself: if I ever left the field, it would be because I had to be carried off.
This last season with the Bay Area Panthers, that moment came. I played 7–8 games with a blown-out shoulder and torn bicep. My body was breaking down, but my love for the game wouldn’t let me stop. At one point, I was leading the IFL in interceptions, pass breakups, and turnovers. Still, I knew it was time — pain-free became the new goal.
To my teammates — thank you for the memories: long days in the gym, endless practices, late-night film sessions, and talking ball. Those were the best days.
To my coaches — thank you for believing in me, pushing me, and taking a chance when others said I should give up.
To my family — words will never be enough. Your love and support made this dream possible.
To @keyes_erin — thank you for getting me through the toughest season I have had playing this game. Something that will never leave me is just falling into your arms when the results came back and just knowing in my head and heart that I just played in my last game.
And to God — thank You. I gave everything I had to this game, and I walk away with no regrets, only gratitude for the journey and faith in what comes next.
Thank You, Football. 🙏
