Ancient melodies, new grooves 🎶 Chicago duo Ruan & Hide @ruanandhide reimagines traditional Chinese and Taiwanese folk songs with a Bossa Nova twist. Taiwanese musician Tzu-Tsen Wu @tyzztsen plays the zhong ruan, a four-string Chinese lute, with live looping and effects, while Brent Roman @brentdrum drives the rhythm on a drum kit built from traditional Chinese drums, cymbals, and percussion. Hear their cool music at 8:45PM on Friday, Nov 6. Unfortunately Tuvergen cannot make it. This band would take the stage instead!!

🎶 GaanMela: a free festival of global music & dance · Nov 6–7 · United Church of Rogers Park @ucrogerspark , 1545 W Morse Ave · Two stages, all ages, everyone welcome!
Hosted by Ochin Pakhi @ochinpakhichicago. Supported by a Neighborhood Access Program grant from Chicago DCASE @chicagodcase and the Rogers Park Business Alliance through SSA #24 @rogersparkba.

Yesterday, I was on WGN TV with the @immigrantorchestra to promote our final performance for the Chicago Red Line Jazz concert with @mandalaartschi on October 16. It wasn’t my first time on WGN, but it was the first time the camera gave me a close-up. Fortunately, I managed to play flawlessly under pressure! 😂
As always, the highlight of the day was the post-show dinner. The dialogues around the table are invariably fascinating; we wove together food, music, and poetry to explore world history and the spark of cross-cultural connections. by @tyzztsen

I’d always be a big fan DCASE’s World Music Festival of Chicago. My favorite festival of all time.
This year I got to enjoy the Ragamala and do an opening concert for @koreangipsy_sangjaru
Thanks to @lovesaraswathiveena’s invitation having me presenting Taiwanese culture for Chicago City! 🙌🥰 by @tyzztsen

🌿 On Sunday, Mandala South Asian Performing Arts brought “Nature and Narratives” to Naper Settlement for a first-of-its-kind performance uniting Chicago-based musicians from across Asia in an evening of pan-Asian storytelling through sound.

Alongside the music, artist Marvin Veloso unveiled Tapestries Toward the Future, a collective work made from textiles donated by Naperville-area residents throughout the summer.

In case you missed it, the tapestry will be on display:

🌱North Central College: Oct 16 – April 2027
🌱 Naperville Library: May–July 2027
