“Learn. Dream. Act.” This was the guiding principle of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn, a Ukrainian economist and visionary who believed that education, ethical leadership and personal responsibility transform societies.

Throughout his life, he worked with business leaders, advised governments across continents and helped develop ideas for more effective, fair, and humane societies. After decades abroad, he returned to Ukraine to support its development and invest in its younger generations.

100 years after his birth, his legacy lives on – through the people he inspired and the institutions he helped build. by @ua.emb.india

Russia launched 16 ballistic missiles and over 200 drones against Ukraine overnight, damaging energy infrastructure, homes, a medical clinic, a school, and a metro station. There are killed and injured in these Russian attacks.

Energy facilities were hit in 11 regions. Over ten energy infrastructure facilities were damaged, leaving at least 550,000 families without electricity. These attacks have killed and injured civilians.

Ukraine has said yes to every ceasefire proposal from our partners. Russia has repeatedly responded with missiles, drones, and killings.
The war continues because Russia chooses to continue it.

Blocking air defence supplies to Ukraine while easing sanctions on Russia only undermines efforts to end the aggression. Ukraine needs support to defend itself and protect its people. by @ua.emb.india

Ukraine marks the 90th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Drach today, one of Ukraine’s most distinctive poets, screenwriters, playwrights and public figures.

He belonged to the generation of writers and artists who challenged Soviet cultural conventions, helping reshape Ukrainian literature through bold imagery, an experimental style and recurring themes of light and renewal.

Drach also wrote screenplays for landmark films of Ukrainian poetic cinema, including A Spring for the Thirsty, The Lost Letter and The Stone Cross.

After facing political pressure under Soviet rule, he later became a prominent figure in Ukraine’s independence movement, helping mobilise public support for the restoration of Ukraine’s independence.

“I am an absolute optimist. I believe in my people. Otherwise, why live in this world at all?” he once said – words that capture his enduring faith in Ukraine. by @ua.emb.india

Food should never be used as a weapon. Yet Russia is deliberately targeting the very systems that produce, store, and deliver food to millions of people.

From mining Ukrainian farmland and destroying crops to attacking grain storage facilities, ports, and civilian vessels, Russia is disrupting food production and supply chains at every stage.

The consequences extend far beyond Ukraine. Disrupted agricultural exports threaten global food security, particularly in countries across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, where many families are already vulnerable to food shortages and rising prices.

Before Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine annually produced food to feed 400 million people. Despite Russia’s war, Ukrainian farmers continue to work, and Ukraine continues supplying food to international markets.

On World Food Day, the message is clear: food must never be weaponised, and Russia’s attacks on global food security must stop.

Russia has targeted four merchant ships in the Black Sea over the past 24 hours, including in Romania’s territorial waters and exclusive economic zone, killing eight people. Romanian authorities are searching for missing crew members of a vessel attacked in Romania’s exclusive economic zone.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha shared Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Toiu’s concerns and supported her call to protect freedom of navigation in the Black Sea.

Andrii Sybiha stressed that Russia is turning the Black Sea into a danger zone for civilian shipping, putting sailors’ lives at risk, threatening international trade and undermining global food security.

He emphasised that Ukraine stands with Romania, Bulgaria and all European partners in safeguarding maritime security.

“Freedom of navigation is not negotiable. Russia must not be allowed to dictate the rules through intimidation and force,” Andrii Sybiha stressed.

Stronger regional cooperation and coordinated action are crucial to protect vital shipping routes and uphold international law. by @ua.emb.india

War criminal Sergey Lavrov recently said that “Zelenskyy has not earned a respite on the battlefield”. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha responded that Lavrov himself has already earned a front-row seat at the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression.

“The more irrelevant and cynical the comments, the more evidence for the Tribunal,” Andrii Sybiha stated.

Those responsible for the crime of aggression must face justice before the Special Tribunal. War criminals must be held accountable. by @ua.emb.india

Last night, Ukraine’s Defence Forces struck a Russian airfield in the Voronezh region using a Ukrainian Long Neptune missile, destroying four Su-34 aircraft and damaging two more.

The warplanes were used to launch attacks against Ukraine and were loaded with aerial bombs, ready for further strikes.

Ukrainian forces also struck a facility used to store and launch Russian attack drones in the Oryol region, as well as a target in the Black Sea.

These operations are Ukraine’s response to Russia’s continued attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilians. As Russia continues to prolong its war of aggression, Ukraine will continue its long-range strikes against Russian military targets. by @ua.emb.india

🧩 With the Puzzle of Unity series, we continue exploring Ukraine through its cultural and historical symbols. Today’s story is about the world’s oldest steppe reserve – Askania-Nova.

The Kherson region in the south of Ukraine is home to many natural wonders, including the Askania-Nova nature reserve, founded in 1898. The land within this territory has never been cultivated, and today the reserve combines untouched steppe nature with a zoo and a dendrological park.

Short fact: Herds of wild animals roam freely across parts of the protected steppe here, including Przewalski’s horses, various species of antelope, and even zebras.

Since 2022, Askania-Nova has been under Russia’s temporary occupation. As with many other sites, its conservation mission has been undermined: reports indicate fires on its territory and cases of illegal removal of animals.

🔍 Follow #PuzzleOfUnity as we continue exploring the stories behind each puzzle piece and discover the people, places, inventions, artworks, and traditions that have shaped Ukraine through the centuries. by @ua.emb.india
