For our fourth edition of our @dwelling.sessions, two live acts and two curators will help us move through the evening in different shades of sound :)

Ubax @ubax.x.x opens with a selection of lush ambient and experimental music. Born in London and now based in Berlin, her wider practice traces lines between bass music, the African diaspora, SWANA, Latin America and the UK, shaped by memory, distance and longing.

Bernhard Hollinger @bernhardhollinger , performing “Weichness”, brings together prepared fragments, loops, field recordings, electric bass. His improvised sound and light collages drift between tuning, rhythm and genre, unfolding like pages from a private journal.

arc rae @arcrae.io weaves acoustic and electronic textures into fluid, slowly shifting compositions. Modular synths, guitar, contact microphones, field recordings, vocals and percussive objects gather into spontaneous forms, with each performance finding its own path.

Between the live sets, and carrying us gently toward the late evening, @akshaysic will curate a selection of vinyl records, threading the different worlds of the evening together.

A night of close listening, soft edges and sounds allowed to breathe.

I’m taking on my ultimate dream of going b2b allllllllllll day long with these babes that I got to feature on my dj straight girl & friends show on @halfmoonbk over the last year, gonna be a true battle of the bass 🤺 come get weird deep in the fog with us

and now of course here we go again being cheesy on main again (sorry) but this silly little radio show literally got me through one of the most intense years of grief, growth & healing in my life. Having this outlet for joy & music & structure when nothing else made sense was invaluable <3

Whether it was the crunchy crazy leftfield electro with Benni @crust.tissue, the gay ass mid summertime bassline with Simon @ibuprosecco for their !first ever mix!, the chaos hyperbass with Isa, the moody intricate abstract deep cuts with Sahra @ubax.x, the booty popping silly girly vibes with my bb Ellie @shevvet, the very spontaneous unplanned journey of grime and breaks on that crispy sunny morning at THF with Charlie @cowtome, or the sweet n soft evening of eating dal & swamping out some downtempo drummy goodness with Emily @emirrrly — all of it was so healing because it was FUN and stupid and unserious, a vibe that is increasingly hard to tap into & remember these days when you’re so caught up in the digital hellscape pretentious loser bullshit social media scene-y clique-y drama of it all.

This whole project was meant to be a proper GOODBYE and fuckkkkkk you 🖕 to that shit forever 🚫 & I invite you to hopefully do the same so we can party 4 the peopleeeeee! as it was always meant to be

so anyways if you’re still even reading lol (thanks) …. MUSIC?? friendship!!!? dancing?!!! literally what’s betta than that?!

Sa. 14.03. um 15 Uhr DJ listening Session

Bass heavy, hard-pushing sounds that focus on keeping dancers sweating and smiling are Ubax’s goals when she plays. Born and raised in London, Ubax grew up surrounded by the sounds of Jungle, Drum and Bass, UK garage, Grime and Somali music. But it wasn’t until she moved to Berlin that a mixture of nostalgia and longing to hear more bass music motivated her to get behind the decks.

Ubax is inspired by the sounds of the African diaspora, SWANA, Latin America and of course the UK. These diverse sonic influences manifest in her sets, building a bridge between old skool tunes and new sounds. More recently Ubax has been exploring her rich musical heritage and combining her two loves, bass and Somali music to create her unique musical experience for listeners by @ubax.x.x

back on @halfmoonbk today for dj straight girl & friends - this time I’ve invited one of @femmebassmafia ‘s weird bass aficionados @ubax.x.x for a massive & juicy leftfield mix. She brought the moody and spacious dubs for the first hour & I closed things out with some drummy & jungle-y 150 then down into the sexy and wonky 130 vibes 🫨
