Wine has been a popular drink for thousands of years but recent conversations have reignited the debate, is wine actually bad for you? Yes and no, drinking 1-2 glasses a day has been found to have many health benefits, and even lowers the risk or mortality! But that is only for those aged 40 and above, and alcohol has been found to increase the risk of female breast cancer.

While raw garlic is a popular natural remedy, applying it directly to the skin or leaving it under tight bandages can cause severe chemical contact burns. Active compounds like allicin and diallyl disulfide trigger skin reactions when trapped, creating injuries that can mimic abusive burn marks. Watch to learn more!

Will AI Replace Pharmaceutical Scientists?

AI is rapidly changing how we approach drug discovery, data analysis and clinical research.

So… what is left for pharmaceutical scientists to do?

Looking across recent work in AI-driven drug development and epidemiology, one theme stood out: better AI does not automatically mean better medicine.

Scientific judgment is still essential for asking the right questions, evaluating data quality and bias, interpreting results, and deciding what those results actually mean.

Rather than simply replacing pharmaceutical scientists, AI may be changing the role we play — from performing more routine tasks to guiding the questions, decisions, and interpretation behind the science.

Is Early COPD Detection Worth the Cost?

COPD is often missed or diagnosed late, raising an important question: is finding it earlier worth the cost?
A Canadian study compared 16 different ways to detect COPD earlier in primary care. The researchers found that regularly using a short COPD questionnaire for adults aged 40 and older could be a cost-effective approach.
The study also showed that the value of early detection depends greatly on whether earlier treatment helps improve symptoms and quality of life.
Overall, this research shows how health economics can help us understand not only what works, but what provides the best value for patients and healthcare systems.
