I’m finally giving myself the same grace and love I’ve always given everyone else. If I seem different, it’s because I finally learned how to say “no” to things that don’t respect my worth. 🕊️💎💜

I’ve spent a lot of time healing, and that healing came with a backbone. My boundaries aren’t a wall to keep people out; they’re a gate to keep my peace in. If you can’t respect the gate, you don’t get to enter the garden. 💯‼️

💜My heart is so full 💜🙏🏾

Thank you to every single person who took the time to celebrate my birthday with me. Your calls, texts, messages, comments, gifts, prayers, and love reminded me just how blessed I truly am. I don’t take any of it for granted.

Thank you, too, for the incredible support you’ve shown with the release of our new The Adventures of Sylah & Friends™ Coloring Book. Seeing so many of you celebrate this milestone with me made this birthday even more meaningful. What a beautiful gift to launch a dream while celebrating another year of life‼️

As I’ve reflected over these past few days, I’ve realized just how much I’ve grown. I’ve grieved the loss of my mother. I’ve grieved the version of myself I had to leave behind. I’ve even grieved the ending of my last relationship. Those seasons weren’t easy, but they shaped me into the woman I am today.

Now, I’m choosing something different.

I’m choosing peace!
I’m choosing purpose!
I’m choosing joi (yes me)!
I’m choosing to be intentional about protecting my heart, my energy, and the exceptional life God is calling me to live!

Today I celebrate another year of life with a heart overflowing with gratitude. 💜 Every challenge, every victory, every lesson, and every unexpected blessing has shaped me into the woman I am today. I’m thankful to God for His faithfulness, for the people who have loved and supported me, and for the opportunities to dream, create, and make a difference. My life changed forever, and my heart broke the day you left me in 2004. Twenty-two years later, I still miss you!!! 🤍 They say time heals all wounds, but I don’t believe that’s true. Time softens the sharp edges of grief, but it never erases the love or the longing.

Today, I’m choosing gratitude. Thank you for showing me what a father should be… Thank you for your strength, your guidance, your love, and the example you set. The lessons you taught me continue to shape the woman I am, and I carry a part of you with me every single day.

I’m blessed that God gave us the years we shared and the memories that no amount of time can take away. I wish we had more, but I’ll forever cherish the moments we did have.

Working on my backyard today and I’m not gonna lie… cutting trees is wildly satisfying 😂🌳 There’s something about clearing space with your own hands that feels like instant stress relief. Thank you to everyone who poured into me yesterday ❤️ Every call, text, message, and comment meant more than you know. I’m truly grateful. 🙏🏽✨

Losing my mother changed me. 🕊️💔 Grief has a way of reminding you how short and precious life really is. I spent years shrinking myself to make others comfortable, but now I understand my light was never meant to be dimmed. 🌟

Today, I walk boldly, fully myself, and unapologetically. The strength, love, and resilience my mother poured into me still lives on through everything I do. ❤️✨

And one of my greatest blessings is watching my daughter Sylah already embrace what took me years to learn… she was born to stand out, not fit in. 💕👑

One year ago today, I lost the most important woman in my life, my mother, Amelia M. Pearson. 💜🤍🙏🏾🕊️

For a long time, I wasn’t just her daughter. I was also her caregiver. When someone has been woven into every part of your daily life, their absence changes everything. The phone calls stop. The routines disappear. The person you’ve always turned to is no longer there to answer.

People often talk about grief as something you get through, but I’ve learned it’s something you learn to carry. Some days it feels lighter. Some days it reminds you it’s still there. Losing my mother changed me in ways I never expected, but it also revealed a strength I didn’t know I possessed. ‼️‼️‼️

This year has taught me that love doesn’t end when a life does. It lives on in the lessons she taught me, the values she instilled in me, the memories we created, and the legacy she left behind. I see her in the way I love my children, the way I show up for others, and the way I continue moving forward even when it’s hard.

Today, I miss her deeply! 🤍 I honor her completely! And I move forward carrying her love with me!

To anyone walking through grief, especially after losing a parent, hold on to hope… The pain never fully disappears, but neither does the love. And sometimes, that love becomes the light that guides you through the darkest days. 💡

Cherish your parents while they are here… create memories… be present… and most importantly never let a day go by without showing/verbalizing your love!
