Calling all former UCC football players and coaches! 🏈

The UCC Blues junior varsity and varsity teams are gearing up for an incredible double-header on October 23 at this season’s Friday Night Lights! Junior varsity kicks off at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity game. The varsity matchup will honour past champions, teams, and coaches, with a special halftime tribute to CISAA championship teams from 1990 (Class of ’91) and 2015 (Class of ’16).

Over the past few weeks, our Year 7 students travelled to Norval Outdoor School, where they spent four days and three nights camping in tents, two classes at a time.

Their days were packed with hands-on adventure, from tackling the high ropes course and building fires to cook their own lunches, to hiking into Glen Williams for a soapstone carving workshop. A standout highlight was learning how to craft traditional arrows with Cole Thistle-Hill, an Indigenous consulting archaeologist and field liaison representative from the Six Nations of the Grand River. The workshop connects students directly to the land's deep history, inspired by archaeological research on campus that revealed arrowheads at Norval, with some dating back over 11,000 years.

These students will next visit Norval in the spring, when they return to be welcomed into their new Upper School houses alongside their future housemates and teachers! #UCCCommunity by @ucc_community

On Tuesdays after school, our JK to Year 5 families gather for Tinkering Tuesday, a hands-on series led by Primary Design Learning Leader Joanna Martin!

Designed for families from JK to Year 5, these collaborative sessions in the Brenda & Reid Chen Innovation Lab offer something new each week. From cardboard engineering challenges — like building custom fingerboard skateparks — to relaxing monthly "Crafternoons" designing tote bags and "Tech Tuesdays" where students teach their parents how to use apps like Book Creator, it’s a wonderful way for our Prep community to innovate together.

What day was it? A-DAY💙

Thank you to everyone who joined us last Saturday for A-Day, our annual celebration of community, tradition and school spirit. From action packed games to reconnecting with friends across campus, your energy was incredible from start to finish.

Special thanks go out to the Association Council, led by President Chan Sethi ’03, and the 2026 A-Day Steering Committee, led by Alumni Chair Simon Hermant ’00 and Parent Chair Sarah D’Souza, for their outstanding leadership and hard work.

Gregor MacKinnon ’81 and Ray Dhirani ’98 have both built rewarding careers in international development, tackling complex issues including poverty, adolescent health and wellbeing, climate and the health of oceans.

Four decades after attending UCC, former Cadet Corps members gathered at the Norval Outdoor School to celebrate lasting friendships, shared memories, and the very special place that played a defining role during their time at the College.

In September’s alumni spotlight, we catch up with Abdulsalam Oladimeji ’21, recent graduate of the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM).
